For those who work full time Mon-Fri, what days do you go gym?
When I was unemployed, I went gym Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and one of Sat or Sun.
I am starting a full time job, and I would be working Mon-Fri.
I would like to go gym 4 days a week. Would it be better to go gym on two weekdays and both weekend days, or Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri?
The commute to work is quite long, it takes 42-44 minutes going to work/getting home. I think I would finish at 5pm, so I get home at 5.44pm, If I go gym, I would get home at around 8.24pm, which is quite late, as I have a 9am start the next day.
So, for those who work full time, Mon-Fri, what days do you go gym? and would you recommend a certain spilt in terms of gym days?
Thanks -

My working hours are 8-15.30, get home about 16.15.
I eat dinner and go to the gym about 6pm, am normally home by 8.30, occasionally 9. Don't think that's too late, and since you start work an hour later than me I reckon you'd cope with that.
Other days I train straight after work (have to eat slightly differently but it's fine).
I usually train Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (normally a lighter day) and Friday and often Saturday. Considering starting training on Tuesdays now and again as well. -
Re: For those who work full time Mon-Fri, what days do you go gym?A lot of people commute for well over an hour each way, a lot of people work a lot longer than 40 hours a week, getting back at 8:30pm is not that late and still leaves you a couple of hours to eat/unwind before bed and a 9am start is not that early.(Original post by GuyUK)

Seriously things aren't that bad. If someone could offer me those sorts of hours for a decent level of pay I would bite their hand off.
What is best? You're the best person to answer this based on what you want to achieve, your routine, your level of training, how often you're willing to go to the gym, etc.I would like to go gym 4 days a week. If you can only get to the gym twice a week follow a 2 day full body style routine and perform some "homework" of your choice for another 2-3 days (eg; pullups, ab wheel rollouts, some calisthenic based metcon, run some hills, etc). If you can get into the gym 3-4 times a week follow a 3-4 day routine of your choice. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.
Also sort out the gym situation - it shouldn't add close to 3 hours to your day. Find a gym closer to work or home to cut travel times and revise what you are doing if your workouts take longer than 1-1.5 hours. -

Not working atm but I used to go 3 times. I would come home, eat, sleep 30-60 minutes then hit the weights. Sleep before gym turns you in to a half man beast and gives your CNS a much needed boost.

there's always time to fit in a few hours a week
I leave for work at 7:30 am, and arrive home at 6:15pm
I train 4 times a week - Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Friday night and Sunday.
On the weeknights, I train at around 6:30. My last 'meal' is usually a sandwich on the way home from work, cruising on the motorway. I then have a banana when I get home while I'm getting changed, or a mars bar.
No excuses
edit: I'm usually in the hour about 1hour 15 mins. -

I work 0900-1730 Monday to Friday and I go to the Gym every day. I also have a 75-90 minute commute each way for work. Monday I do K1, Tuesday Deadlifts and Bench Press, Wednesday Boxing, Thursday Muay Thai and Friday Squats and snatch or Clean & Jerk. If you want to train you will make the time. I don't train on weekends because my gym is near my work and I don't want to spend over 2 hours commuting for a workout.
The earliest I'll get home if I go to the gym is 8.30pm but on Wednesdays and Thursdays it's 10.30pm. You have it easy, don't complain.Last edited by ChaoticMaster; 15-07-2012 at 20:50.
