Re: [AQA] Mechanics 3 - 22 June 2012 - M3
awesome i do tbh if u dnt mind
on june 2005 question 3
u have a sphere A and B
A has mass 4m and velocity u
B has mass 2m and thats all ur told so i assume its velocity is 0
e = e lool
1st it asks to find the velocities after impact simple enough
you get like Va = (2u -ue) / 3
nd Vb = (2u + 2ue) / 3
the next part says Given that the magnitude of the impules exerted by A on B is (12mu)/5 show that e = 4/5 -
Re: [AQA] Mechanics 3 - 22 June 2012 - M3Yeah - just got back from M2, Q8 was an annoying end to the paper - Anyway, Hopefully F2 pulls the grade up :P(Original post by Iepnauy)
Bleh, no motivation to revise for this =L
I lost lots of silly marks on M2 so an A* in F.Maths is out of the question.
Need like 25 UMS in this for an A :/
25 UMS for an A
Lucky.. what did you get in the other exams?
M3 revision has been left to the night before, I'm gunna start it in abit -
Re: [AQA] Mechanics 3 - 22 June 2012 - M3It's not the best :/ Good job there's not much to learn from it, it's mainly rearranging the formulas they give you to get what they want(Original post by laural219)
Ahhhhh I can't do any of it, ahhhh going to fail so bad!

Re: [AQA] Mechanics 3 - 22 June 2012 - M3
Can't seem to get my head round closest approach, the rest I can seem to do pretty well. Here is a question I am stuck on:
"A Cruiser is travelling due east at a speed of 10 ms-1. A patrol boat is initially 5 km NE of the cruiser. The patrol boat travels at 5 ms-1. Determine the minimum distance between the patrol boat and the cruiser and the bearing on which the patrol boat should head to achieve this."
Also are these questions even on the specification? as there only seems to be one question like it (Q3 June 2009).
I've attached my attempt, the answers are supposed to be 1294m and and a bearing of 150 degrees
EDIT: Nevermind figured it out, I messed up the top angle, should of used inverse sine instead of inverse tan, feel stupid
also attatched correct solution if anyone ever happens to be stuck on this in the future.

Which one was question 4, again? -
Re: [AQA] Mechanics 3 - 22 June 2012 - M3I got e = 1/2 exactly for one of the questions, and for the snooker table question i got e as 0.812(Original post by Aqib7)
What did you guys get as e for question 4?
Lucky.. what did you get in the other exams?
