I really love RJ Ellory. I've just ordered his latest novel 'A Dark and Broken Heart' as an exam treat but I recommend 'Bad Signs' and 'A Quiet Belief in Angels'.

Anything by Michael Connelly, he's a great author and the Harry Bosch series is all about a detective, there are 17 books in that series with the newest one due out in November of this year. The first one is The Black Echo and although you don't have to read them in order it can be a little confusing if you dont as although Harry stays the same and the cases change, there are references to things that happened in the past and whilst he briefly explains them it's not quite the same as knowing what exactly happened.

He also wrote the Lincoln Lawyer which is a legal thriller, it was also turned into a movie with Matthew McConaughey there are 4 books in the Mickey Haller series as well.

Joseph Conrad - The Secret Agent.

It's not exactly a thriller, though, is it?:erm: I mean it's a great book, obviously, but it's not really the spy novel the title leads you to expect.

I'd go old school - Raymond Chandler is awesome, as is Agatha Christie or Arthur Conan Doyle, and I'd also recommend you check out Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone and G.K. Chesterton's The Man Who Was Thursday.

Boris Akunin's Erast Fandorin series is also great - set in 19th century Russia.

My Swordhand Is Singing by Marcus Sedgewick, though also a fantasy, is a real fast-pace, page turner. Scary as hell at some points too. Really recommend it.

    Best thriller:
    The Killer - Jack Elgos.
It's a dark and violent tale of betrayal and revenge, but at times funny, give it a go.

    Best detective, Sherlock Holmes.

Try Craig Russell, he has two series, the Fabel Series and the Lennox series, both are very good!

The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy is one of my favourites.
