I got one done for going on holiday this week-biggest waste of £8.50 ever. They only really did the bit outside the pants. I was like oh really, that's it? In terms of pain it's not that bad though, I found the lower legs sorer

I have a question lol. Im thinking about getting a bikini wax done but just the actual bikini line and maybe a bit on the inside and then just shave the rest myself. If your only getting bikini/high leg do you keep your pants on?

if thats all you ask for thats all theyre going to do.

If you ask for them to do more then they will but you pay for more. There are different types-bikini, high leg, hollywood, brazilian etc.

How long do you stay smooth down there if you get waxed? I shave and it needs doing once a day AT LEAST!

I got 100 ready to use wax strips from eBay (veet kind) and I do it myself with no problems. I went for a professional bikini wax once and it was extremely painful - she kept waxing the same area over and over, I couldn't even wear pants for 2 days because any material touching the area was agonising. She also left behind a lot of stray hairs and it turned out wonky!

Just have more confidence when you do it yourself and it will be less painful. If you have a friend to help you as well that can be a real help.
I suppose it depends where you get it done! Salons have varying qualities mine was perfectly straight and completely smooth! - an effect I could never get when doing it mysef!

what can go wrong if you do it at home?
Well, nothing can go wrong, but it´s generally more difficult to do and more painful because it´s in a bit of an awkward place.. haha

    (Original post by kirsti)
I really want to get it done but i've always thought it would be quite awkward ? knowing that they must hate doing it and everything.

They don´t hate it as much as you think! they´ve chosen to take their career path down the health and beauty route! They´ve paid for college courses to study precisely this and as long as you keep yourself clean down there, they won´t hate doing it! I personally didn´t find it at all awkward!

I'm getting my first one done professionally in a weeks time eeeek
To both of you! Don´t be nervous! It´s actually quite relaxing as the person waxing tends to be quite chatty. It is painful, I won´t lie, but just think of the results! I had mine around a week ago, and it´s still baby smooth! So nice not to have to worry about shaving!!

How does it work? Wouldn't it be awkward?
Not at all! When I had mine done, I told the girl that it´s my first time and that I´m really nervous! She said that it´s natural and she´ll wax a small strip, and if I can´t take it, she won´t continue and won´t charge me. Then when she did it, it was painful, but not anymore than my legs! I was definitely happy to let her continue and the results are amazing!

Yes, you do keep your pants on! You might be asked to move the pants in a little bit with your hand, but that´s just so no wax gets on them! Haha, your bits are kept covered!

Like max 1 month for me. Some people find it stays smooth for 6 weeks (like the ads say). But it really depends on how fast your hair grows! I´d say average around 4 - 5 weeks

If you have a good waxer, it won't hurt that much and they won't put you in really awkward positions. I've had it done before (a Hollywood wax, at that), it wasn't awkward in the slightest and I would honestly only rate the pain at, like, 4 or 5 out of 10.

have you heard of sugaring? it's no where near as painful as waxing, you can use it everywhere too.

    Heyy, girls!

I'm getting my legs waxed soon and I'm thinking of getting a bikini wax as well.
Has anyone ever done this professionally? I've tried waxing my bikini line at home with the standard Veet kits, but the pain was absolutely unbearable! (I couldn't even bring myself to do the other side! I was uneven for weeks!!)

Professional bikini wax. Yay or nay??
yes and dont do it yourself get a professional to do it ,first time it really hurts but u get used to it,wait about 1 week after your period and well just bear it, good luck !

I've heard taking a painkiller before hand also helps as it thins the blood and makes it a lot less painful.
For the people that had it, how would you compare the pain to epilating? I've tried that a few times and find it painful but bareable, just the results aren't as good as waxing.

Less painful than epilating, in my opinion x

In my opinion, I don't find it painful at all and I have a Hollywood wax. It's a different feeling, and a little uncomfortable, but never painful. If you want take along underwear a size too big, so you have a little room to move around in afterwards and have a paracetamol 30mins before.

If you can, speak to the person who will be doing the waxing beforehand and explain that it is your first time, and she will try to be a bit more sensitive to your needs and make sure you're okay throughout. Also, if there are any stray hairs left around, they should be tweezed out at the end of the session and if not, remind her.

Finally, try to go in with an open mind as I find if you expect something to hurt then it will normally meet your expectations. Try to relax and to not over think what is happening.

    Hope this helps.

Does waxing last longer than tweezers? Cause I've tried tweezers and that hardly lasts longer than shaving!

That's because it's a bikini wax - that's all it covers. If you want more you'd have to book a brazillian (landing strip) or hollywood (all gone). Some salons offer in-betweens as well, like playboy (much smaller strip than brazillian) and Ibiza (just your bum).

I go quite frequently and it's fine. So long as you get a chatty person, it passes quickly and the pain is easily bearable, though the odd bit will get your attention, especially around the lips. So, so worth it though. I can't always afford to get it done regularly and end up shaving - and then when I finally go back for a wax, I kick myself for leaving it so long as it's so much nicer!

Bloody hell! You used tweezers all along your bikini line?! Don´t think I could ever do that! Haha. Anyway, I tweeze my eyebrows AND wax them. The hair that was removed by tweezers always grows faster than the waxed hair
