A level textbooks and notes - keep or throw out?
Just wondering did anyone take any of their A level notes (i.e Biology or Chemistry) with them to uni. Finishing exams on Friday and want to know if I should keep anything. Sometimes I forget the most basic stuff so was wondering should I keep my textbooks, otherwise I can sell them back to my school? Did any one regret throwing anything out?

Re: A level textbooks and notes - keep or throw out?
Yeah I did a maths degree and took all my maths notes with me to uni and did end up using them several times. Don't know for biology or chemistry but as they're also sciences I would imagine it to be similar. Textbooks I didn't take you should be fine without them, especially if your notes are good. I doubt you actually NEED notes, they just might be useful sometimes rather than having to look something up online (if it's something that your uni lecture notes just assume knowledge of and don't explain) or asking the lecturer/your tutor to explain everything (although you definitely shouldn't be afraid to go to them with issues).

I kept a couple, like my Higher Psychology textbook and my copy of Haramlambos cos I sometimes forget the basic stuff too but donated the rest of them to my college :3 I'm going to be studying Psychology so it wouldn't make much sense to keep my English or History textbooks.

You should recycle your notes, and give your textbooks to your school to get back some cash. Med school's got pretty much everything you'll need (you'll get loads of handouts) and you will need to buy the odd book here and there, and all others you can get probably get from the library.

Re: A level textbooks and notes - keep or throw out?
I found a school bag full of my exercise books from year 7 the other day, jam packed. Except History+Geography GCSEs, I threw everything out. It actually filled the whole wheely recycle bin up.
I am keeping my A-level stuff because I worked hard for it and might want to revisit it later. I kept all my history (might be interesting in a few years) and economics.Last edited by Deep456; 20-06-2012 at 12:21. -
Re: A level textbooks and notes - keep or throw out?
I'm currently having the same problem. As it is I still have a big cardboard box of my GCSE books which I've kept until now because of the amazing memories I have associated with them. I especially can't throw away any of my homework diaries from all the doodles and jokes and friends' messages written all over the pages. But in terms of my A-level stuff: my sister is starting AS levels this Sept so I'll be giving my textbooks to her. At least if you sell them/give them to a friend or someone you know, you can always ask to borrow them back if you end up needing them at uni.

Re: A level textbooks and notes - keep or throw out?
thanks okay I think I will throw all my hand written revision notes as they are in a mess by now, and sell my textbooks back to school. Might keep one or 2 welsh textbooks though in case I don't know what something is in English because I have never been taught chemistry or biology through English. ?

I had a similar problem going to an english language college after doing mainstream welsh education 'till 16.
still though the academy is the best dictionary for flicking through stuff, had most of the stuff I needed for A level anyway.
there's also geiriadur.net
the google one is terrible.
Even if it's not in the dictionary then just google it and hopefully the diagrams look familiar. -
