What happens with a a2 retake?
Not sure if this should go here.. but I was just wondering what would happen if I was to re-take my A2 exam?
Would I have to re-take the two years, or would it be just one year?
And what would the ucas situation be if I was to go ahead and do it.. upon recieving results in August which were not up to par? **whoops**
Lol..

Thanks for your help in advanceLast edited by hannahchan; 20-06-2012 at 19:47. -
Re: What happens with a a2 retake?
You can do it in whatever time frame you feel comfortable with surely? If you feel like you can do the retakes in January, then why sit through two years of re-learning stuff you've already been taught? If you want to redo the two years and have the lessons again then go for it :L I'm guessing you'd be entering the exam privately, so it wouldn't matter.
It depends what uni you're applying to. Oxbridge etc will be more harsh on exam resits than other unis that won't even look at them.
Good luck with it all

Re: What happens with a a2 retake?
I retook my exams this year, due to personal circumstances I didn't get my predicted A-level grades after the two years of study. I did a couple of AS exams in January and then several A2 exams this summer. As for your actual grades, you get to keep the best mark and you can technically do the exams as many times as you like
-
Re: What happens with a a2 retake?I see.. did you take the AS because you didn't get a good mark before or did you take them because you have to in order to get your A2 new grade?(Original post by Picture~Perfect)

Re: What happens with a a2 retake? You don't have to retake the AS, I chose to as I wanted to bring up my whole grade. If you did well in AS and just want to retake A2 exams then you can do, also you don't have to take all the A2 exams, you could just retake one.(Original post by hannahchan)

..!!
Must have been hard work doing that for 4 years huh?

Re: What happens with a a2 retake?Well, I retook the exams in one year, so it's only really three years. It has been quite stressful.(Original post by hannahchan)

When you retook the year, how did it work out with UCAS etc. in terms of predicted grades and applying for uni? Did they base the predicted grades on AS or how?
I'm asking because I'm considering to retake the whole A2 year again. Would you recommend it and is it worth it, or just a waste of time. What would you put in your UCAS in terms of AS grades and A2 grades, when you retake and you want to apply for uni again the following year?
Thanks a lot

Re: What happens with a a2 retake? If you think you can do a lot better then it's probably worth it but you should research universities you want to go do, some have a certain policy and they don't take students who took take they're A-levels in more than two years unless they have extenuating circumstances.(Original post by Muffinblues)

In terms of filling in the UCAS form, you have to declare the A-levels results that you have already achieved, what I then did was add my A-levels in again under independent study, as I worked from home. If you retake your A2 year at a school/college then you could re-enter the school's details. As for predicted grades, that is a section that is filled in by your referee, you don't really have a say about those.
I hope that helps clear up some things. If you have any more questions then feel free to ask.

Do you know whether it's actually free to retake - or would you have to pay.
I mean if you changed college/sixth form and retook a whole year somewhere else. -
Re: What happens with a a2 retake? If you changed college, then it might be free but it would depend on the college, if you have a place in mind then maybe you could phone/email them and ask.(Original post by Muffinblues)
Thanks a lot!

Your predicted grades are determined by your tutors unless you're studying independently. If your unhappy with your predicted grade then I suggest you sit down and talk to your tutor.(Original post by Rozcube)
regarding predicted grades, does any one know how to get new ones when retaking the A2 exams.
My chemistry predicted grade isn't ideal

Re: What happens with a a2 retake?Hi, You can retake the exams at your sixthform/college but you don't have to retake the year. Just revise at home and then go in for the exam, that's what I am doing(Original post by Muffinblues)

I have paid for 2 priority remarks for my a2 results to try to get into uni as i just missed my offer, if they dont come back any better, ill probs do this and get a job at the same time, basically take a gap year and improve my grades at the same time
