Hubby has just spoken to his great aunt and in passing just happened -for some unknown reason - to mention that I was in the Opening Ceremony. She said that she and her dad went to the Opening Ceremony for the 1948 Olympics. They lived near Wembley and her dad went to the stadium on the morning of the Opening ceremony and bought two tickets fot it.... and she still has the programme. If only it was so easy nowadays!
    What a lovely story.
My grandad laid the cinder track at the 48 Olympics.

Welcome to conker 44, to Lovetodance and to kernowayr... You 3 bring us to 300 auditionees who have found and posted on TSR!

So glad that you have a role - and our first Rio one! 16 of our Feb bods still haven't heard anything out of 114 (or gave up waiting!)

Kernowayr, are you one of our Feb auditionees or one from even longer ago in November last year? We have 4 other 90A/Bs - sambalaz, sllrkl6, elegat and ElleElle and a 90PLB - lympics
Hi Flakeydom - thanks for the heads up on my group per above.

Yes I was one of the Feb. auditionees, having originally been put on reserve from November for the main ceremonies.

So far I have potential meetees for Sunday as Sunday shopper Flakeydom (plus spreadsheet hopefully ) and hard working-absOn, commonliner, drumbeat, Mum of Students, Kit-Yan and Olympian and yours truly. Anymore we should look out for or that I have missed and could any 51er suggest a suitable meeting place if we do decide to meet up at the stadium??

Me! Me! Depending on how things go though, I might be quite miserable given the weather forecast and just trundle back home...

Wow. Still can't get over how brilliant last night in the stadium was! To those who are wondering about food - there were sandwiches with meat, fish and vegetarian options. If you have any more specific requirements then I would let them know so that they can cater for you. Our casting team said it's not a problem to sort something out as long as you tell them in advance

The placard bearers certainly were looking lovely last night - you can see why they were picked for their role!

That news article earlier regarding the sheep was wonderful. I am not impressed if they are RADA sheep though - how did they get into the most prestigious drama school in the world, when so many actual humans (like myself) got rejected?! I may have to ask them what their secret is

Regarding the meet-up I know two people that aren't on here who would love to come. I've told them all about the forum and they would like to meet all you wonderful people and get involved!

Drumbeat - my sister is an air hostess so very tall and glamourous so I'm guessing its a pre requisite to be in that group ! Hope they didn't distract you to much!
Rather a motivation to show off...

Is it the same as Dagenham, when rehearsals generally started later than the 'doors open' time?
Yes, approx 1 hr between doors open & start.

I got a glimpse of her notes but only saw strings of numbers with no apparent meaning. Either she was using a sophisticated coding system or she was just checking lines & bibs for gaps.

Hm, just the concourse should do, but directly at this microbrewery thing might be better.

There's a nice piece on someone from DB's team in the Liverpool Echo today.
With you mentioning the Liverpool Echo, i was just wondering if you are from Liverpool? I know there are a couple of us that come down from Liverpool

Hi commonliner! I didn't get your message until I got back early this morning, so I shall look out for you on Sunday instead!

I agree that it may be better to meet somewhere in Westfield, as outside the Stadium is such a vast space and there's no real specific place that we could meet as there's not a lot there that isn't multiplied many times! Perhaps if we did meet in there though we could pick somewhere near the aquatic centre as we'll all be able to spot that?

No, sorry, I'm based in London. The article was just a random Google find.

What do people think? I was just remembering the March meet up when our designated pub was overcrowded and if we were all together beforehand we could change plans more easily and perhaps include people who did not have time to drink/eat by chatting on the walk to Westfield? And we could make commonliner the TSR PLB so he could proudly strut round the arena gathering in the TSR masses. But I am happy to fit in with whatever. Meeting at Westfield does have an advantage if in fact 44 and 51 do not finish at quite the same time. Are people more up for going to the stonebaked pizza place first or microbrewery and are the places near each other?

Regarding the bib numbers, costume fitting perhaps? Not sure how far you 51ers are with that and how they do it for you, but they just grabbed little groups of us 44foppers and abducted us for the fittings...

Really great film of the Danny's design team featuring the lovely Suttirat who spent so long with me attempting the impossible: making me look half-decent for my 5 minutes of fame in front of the world!

Tap East is near Waitrose on lower floor opposite Stratford International. You can also stand outside it so might be a good option anyhow - I can get there a little earlier and try to grab a table.

The pizza place is in Food Court on second floor and can be harder to get a seat tho more throughput so they do come free. Probably depends on whether you are going to be hungry or thirsty.

If we end up outside Tap East, we could just send two people to grab pizza in boxes!

yes thats possible although I had all my fittings done last saturday, the only issue that had with me is that I wear glasses and I got the impression they don't want to see any . The lady seemed to hover around and i noticed the girl near me had glasses also and she took her number. I'm sure the plot will unfold at some stage

No Rio for me then.... not good enough... no ceremonies.....

    Just recieved this.....

    'Dear Emma,

Thank you for being a part of the Rio Flag Handover auditions for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. You are part of an outstanding group of volunteers who have brought excellence energy and enthusiasm to the auditions and the show itself.

We are in the process of making our first round of offers to applicants, and you are now on a Standby List of volunteers on standby to help ensure a full and fabulous cast for the show.

We are conservatively inviting people to fill each role. Due to strict accreditation rules, conflicting schedules or external events, we will be making second and third round offers over the coming weeks.

As standby cast you may be asked to be part of a key group of performers. This will require you to attend weekly evening rehearsals and four full-day rehearsals in the weeks before the event.

The team would like to thank you personally for your time and dedication and will hopefully be in touch.

    Regards,
    RFH Team'
