Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)I've seen a couple of Cast Members who were too ill to rehearse and the Cast Team allowed them to sit and observe. If you are able to, then go along to the rehearsals and explain that you're too unwell to take part. That way you're marked in as "present" when you're scanned in.(Original post by JessykarH)
With the way things are going with me right now i may not be at rehearsals tomorrow, I thought i was getting better but i'm still really ill... (Don't worry it's not a catching illness it's a silent illness i have *bloody things* so no one will get it from eating my cakes)
I'll see how i'm feeling tomorrow but i think i may be too weak to rehearse =[
Hopefully i will make it! =]
I'm off to bed now to get a good nights rest! =]
Hoping you get well soon and that you feel better in the morning x -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Under the barcode is a box with "OOC" in it (black ink on white background this time).(Original post by commonliner)
The important bit is the boxed letters just below the barcode - do you have any boxes there? You need a boxed OOC (black print) to get access to the Opening Ceremony. I am just wondering whether they maybe have given you a blank accreditation pass without access to anything. This can be upgraded flexibly in conjunction with anonymous 'upgrade passes' for each specific purpose. That's what they are planning to do with some 51ers who haven't the OCC box on their pass. Very strange.
So I can def. get in past security with this on the night do you think? -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)That sounds about right to me.(Original post by cornishscot)

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Thanks Dancerwoman - will give casting a few days to respond to my e-mail first before calling though !(Original post by Dancerwoman)
Whilst trying to source which phone number for you to call, I came across this article in the Guardian which was published a few months ago regarding "Games Makers volunteers in Limbo", not too sure if anybody came across this and whether this has been sorted out as to who has and who hasn't got roles as Games Makers.

Also came across this number for Games Makers:-

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Yes, plus at least 25 hrs (more like 35+) for the closing...(Original post by abs0n)
Talking about rehearsal hours, I worked out the other day that us 51ers will have had approximately 167 (170 discounting 3 for the actual show
) hours of rehearsals by the time we've done just the opening ceremony! How exciting is that?!
This has definitely turned into a huge commitment, but one that I wouldn't have missed for the world
Every single hour is quality time! -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)No offence taken !(Original post by Lucky30)
GUYS BE CAREFUL this is a public forum don't post too much info re the accreditation passes etc
Although why I am concerned about security when clearly anyone ( no offence cornishscot ) can potentially get passes!
This was posted from The Student Room's iPhone/iPad App
However I will take the opportunity of saying yet again I was auditioned for OOC & OCC (Nov.)/placed on reserve on their list (Jan.)/expected at UDAC today at an appt. time etc./had to show my registered I.D. which, presumably, matched the photo on their database, honestly confessed all at length about my casting situation & status to those who had authority to block the issue of my pass (but chose not to) and do have, presumably, a bona fide offer to take part in both Para. opening and closing ceremonies too.
Yet .......... still they gave me this pass which, knowing my luck, will probably be no use to me on OOC night now that I've raised the alarm via official e-mail with who I believe would be my cast cordinator had I, in fact, been cast for OOC as they seem to think I have been. What's the chance of being cast in 3 out of 4 ceremonies d'ye all reckon - pretty slim I would say.
Could also be interesting trying to blag my way through a segment I've had no prior rehearsal for and/or knowledge of save that it involves drums of some sort !!Last edited by cornishscot; 30-06-2012 at 00:29. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Picked up an APG too today - which is why I mentioned the red banding where it says OCOG on the pass - I had understood that to mean "backstage access" granted only not field of play which would be a differently colour (& in the interests of security on TSR I will not say here what colour I think/know that to be, just that it's not red !).(Original post by commonliner)
I wouldn't worry, Lucky30 - all this information and more is in the Accreditation Pocket Guide that apparently has been circulated widely (hardcopy only, as far as I know). I expect lots of Games Makers have a copy. And an Identity Card alone (this is an accreditation pass without any box below the barcode, and you must have ID'ed yourself properly to get one) won't get you anywhere.
However ..... a couple of people have confirmed that their properly issued pass is pretty much identical to mine in that respect (& they're expecting to be on the FOP on the night) so who knows ! -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)I have to show my registered I.D. to 2 security peeps barely 30 yards apart today before gaining admission (& then again to the GM person doing the UDAC pass issue check thing - whom I spoke to for about 10 mins. about my situation then 3 other separate people after that before I was still able to leave with possibly the wrong pass) !(Original post by Dancerwoman)
Plus, when I went to collect mine, I had to contend with 3 different security guards - and that was before I was even allowed in the building! You can't just rock up and expect to get one. You have to be on their system in the first place and everything must tally before they issue you with one.
Guy at the Oystercard issue point wasn't playing ball with it all though - he would only give one of those to bona fide Games Makers (maybe I should have tried to get a GM uniform too whilst I was at it - just to fully test the system like).
At least it was very easy to find UDAC once I'd sussed the many branches of DLR at various points along the way.Last edited by cornishscot; 30-06-2012 at 00:31. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)It's a combination church and conference centre, actually. Interesting mixture.(Original post by cornishscot)
A church, albeit a huge one apparently (not a conference centre) ?
That's where I've been asked to go to help out on production next week anyhow.

"167 (170 discounting 3 for the actual show

holy cow that's staggering- is anyone else doing that many and double for both? I know the application for auditions did state a few times a week and many weekends for Olympics Cerem segment commitment.
Our 80ish hrs sounds small in comparison, yet its a visually complex segment and a huge group...
I heard one (pro?) group at 3 mills were due back in at 830am, they were leaving as we were queuing to go in in the evening.Last edited by lanza101; 30-06-2012 at 00:34. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)
We had to laugh last night when two of us had to show our passes to get out of the stadium and the final exit onto the road!
I too tried to update my woefully inadequate £10 Oyster at the UDAC and was told in no uncertain terms that the purple and green ones are Gamemaker and the pink are for Performers only. Apparently you can go to the "exceptions" desk at rehearsals with receipts if your sum credited is insufficient and they will add more.
I was in and out of UDAC in less than 15 minutes - both daughter and I - went on right day but wrong times.

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)2+ hours it took to travel South London to UDAC via Northern/Jubilee/DLR do the accreditation thing and then back on DLR for 30 mins. + (various branches - think I must have tried them all at some point today) to get back to Cutty Sark/Deptford area to help out Rio Flag Handover people in the pm. Busy day !(Original post by Essex Girl)

......... and tomorrow I am performing/playing brass in concert at British Legion place for Armed Forces Day then on Sunday I am doing Module 3 of my London Ambassador training @ City Hall (so can't do any main ceremonies rehearsals this weekend folks!).
On Monday I am doing my briefing for Torch Relay in Croydon area in between my domestic chores ready for Rio F/H rehearsals production and more brass band rehearsals during the remainder of the week so probably no time for main ceremonies rehearsals then either unfortunately !Last edited by cornishscot; 30-06-2012 at 00:44. -

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Interesting, keep us updated. A few of us will be in all 4 ceremonies, by the way, myself not included.(Original post by cornishscot)

Sounds identical indeed. I think the FOP access rules at the OC are very different to the sporting events, we won't need the 'other' colour.(Original post by cornishscot)

Ah, that must be the rehearsal venue for London's largest amateur choir. The busy street just in front will drown that Samba noise...(Original post by Terpsikhore)

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Looks more like a church. Actually, it looks a bit like a museum, but it does have a tower with a dome and a cross on top.(Original post by cornishscot)
Does it look more like one than the other though? (so that I know what to look for when I get there). -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)No. Without giving too many details, you need the main OOC ID as well as the accreditation. The accreditation on it's own is useless.(Original post by cornishscot)

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)You won't get through the main gate without the ID card. The accreditation is supplemental.(Original post by cornishscot)
When are 51ers due to be at the stadium btw? - maybe I could pop over then and see someone from the casting team in person about this/my accreditation issue then?
(not expecting to join in on the rehearsal session of course!) -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)
I'm in agreement with RocKeRG here. After picking mine up, I did see quite a few people on the tube back wearing both - but then again, they may not be on their way to rehearsals, just on the way home and wearing them because they were proud to show both passes to the rest of the tube passengers

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Not that slim if you're a 41 or in certain 51 segments; we've been asked to do all 4 already.(Original post by cornishscot)

Definitely a strange one though and one you're not going to get resolved until you speak to someone at Casting. The CC's do seem to be swamped at the moment and even easy queries aren't always being answered. I've never had to call so don't know if the original casting number still works - I'm sure it's quoted multiple times on the old thread (particularly around late Jan!)
Agreed with RocKeRG - the CC's tend to be in and around the stadium so you won't get to them. Plus they don't seem to have access to PCs etc to check through what is happening. It all seems very paper-based when ticking off bib numbers etc.
27 days to go...

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)
Need some advice from 41ers please?
Despite many conversations and a few emails to our Cast Co-ordinators, I am no nearer finding out whether our rehearsals on 19th and 20th July - Thurs and Friday - will be evenings or full day. I am a freelance worker and due to the nature of the job have to have quite specific people in to cover for me. If I do not work I do not get paid either.
I really cannot stall my Agent for much longer over cover and am tempted just to say I will not be in a to lose the money. But, sometimes the departments I work for take a liking to the cover person and then that means I lose the hours permanently within that department! I have discussed all of this with CC and they still cannot even give the slightest indication over those days. I am holding off as long as possible but HAVE to give an indication to my Agent this week.
I work in Paddington Basin and so can get to Stratford on High Speed One - for free with our Pink Oysters and Accreditation or Passes - in half an hour.
What do do????????????????
