Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Wrong tier for me too. That's assuming that we stay in our current sections.(Original post by irishfinn)
He's pretty excited. He got tix to beach volleyball in the 2nd round of sales, I hadn't been successful in getting anything at all. It was only after I found out I was in OOC and OCC that I got the chance to apply for tix again and I got lucky for the opening ceremony. He's in block 241 so he's in a completely different tier to me. I'm going to leave him one of my cameras to get some good photos from a different viewpoint to me. I'm hoping the cast will be let take in cameras with us.
Re the costume, I didn't know we had a choice of sleeve length. I thought I'd be too warm in July with long sleeves - am rapidly rethinking that now
Might have to bring a fleece to wear when I'm not on show. Let's just hope the arm-waving will keep us warm
I'm looking forward to finding out where my family's seats for the dress rehearsals are. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Thanks Flakeydom! I'm so chuffed I can't tell you but now I'm like 'did that actually happen?' hope so! I'm in 72 GS-A - can not wait! So jealous of you guys in the opening and so pleased it feels like it's coming together(Original post by Flakeydom)
Woohoo wizzbangkid! So happy for you! What section?

Sounds like there will be a lot of us around this weekend - drinks afterwards anyone? I know what you mean Laura but just remember that we should find out more stuff about our role too this weekend - and it is, at least, great to know that we're around throughout.
/QUOTE]
Drinks are always a good idea! Although maybe just a quick one on Saturday. My mum's arriving to stay with us as I have drafted her in for childcare in the pre-ceremony weeks. Would be rude to not hurry home after rehearsal.
And now I'll promise to be more positive about our section! Bring it on

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)We're there 9-5.30 - feel a post rehearsal Tap East meet-up coming on?(Original post by Pinnerite)
Which other groups are going to Stadium on Saturday- our first Compulsory? We 44ers are there from 9-5.30. Would be good to know what times other groups are going to predict what we might see! -

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)If it makes you feel better, I have huge admiration and respect for the people who come from far to contribute to this occasion.(Original post by JessykarH)
Thanks. for the help, I shall do that next time =] You're well lucky living so close, It takes me two hours when the trains run smoothly and i don't miss connections. I also have to pay on top of my Oyster to get to the begining of the oyster things... Urgh
I'm more the lazy type who probably would have given up after a couple of 2 hour journeys
Rehearsal tomorrow, hopefully the weather will be decent. Some rain is forecasted for the evening. -
Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)Us delicate dancers have max 5 hour rehearsals, and up to an hour and a half of those is spent sitting and eating sandwiches - they only start getting really long in the final 7/8 days and we've had quite a few weekend days off, we're doing our first saturday ever this weekend, I've found the rehearsal times haven't been too bad - but I'm still exhausted and incredibly stiff afterwards. I can't wait to see the other sections, we've been told from now on all our rehearsals will involve other groups.(Original post by Pinnerite)
That is quite normal for us - on Saturday we had 1-10 followed by 9-1 on Sunday and the previous week we had 18 hours over Friday, Saturday and Sunday! And still we do something different each time!i think it is probably the most difficult segment logistically and hence the huge numbers of rehearsals we have. But we have our first weekend day off for 8 weeks this Sunday so a good lie in is called for! -
Oh thanks! By the way I've only got one foot in 'C', the other in 'B'.. I'm No. 073!(Original post by Pinnerite)
Snix - I have been looking for you and there you are with the coolest of cool County C - Cornwall Rocks! Hope to see you and MacLondon on Tuesday - such a relief when we see the pink bibs:-)

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)
Hi everyone!
It's been so lovely reading about how happy everyone has been at rehearsals recently
I'm certainly a happy chappy today as the torch has finally arrived in Oxford! Yay!
This evening there was a big torch relay celebration party and I was lucky enough to pose holding a torch, and then when the cauldron was lit I'll admit that I was dabbing at my eyes.
What really got to me was one section of the celebration that focussed on people discussing what they would be doing for the opening ceremony (e.g some people inviting friends round to watch it, some people watching it on big screens in cities). Everyone in the crowd was saying to each other how excited they will be to watch it, and how they are sure it's going to be wonderful. That really did make me cry!
After all the negative press we've all had to deal with, THIS is what the Olympic Games are about - people getting together to celebrate each other and be happy. I still can't quite believe that we are part of such an incredible and inspiring event. I'm still a bit sniffly writing this!
Thank you so, so much to every single person who is making these games as special as they are

My bet for 41 rehearsal times is Friday 12 noon, and agree that rest will remain tba. 17 days to go and We are rehearsing on 9 of them! Have booked out of work and cover being sought.
Daughter Got her 25th ticket for block 246 on Sunday. Looks like she will be sat on her own.
Also concerned that, despite having had 2 free weekends, we had on further costume calls! So no costumes and no dates - doing well eh? Also concerned over accreditation. Picked mine up ages ago and despite telling lady I was in both ceremonies, I still only have opening on my pass!

Work want to know if I am in or not next week, its our last week of term and things are going on with the children and its only fair to keep them informed. I feel bad not being able to let them know but hey ho..........
My accreditation is ok, luckily I have both OOC and OCC on mine so that is one less worry, and I have my costume sorted. So cross fingers for you EG that yours will be sorted soon

Re: Did anyone else get an audition for the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony? (Part 2)This is not a problem. You will get a non-personalised OCC upgrade pass from your CCs that will work in conjunction with your existing pass. No need to return to UDAC.(Original post by Essex Girl)
