Can any religious person answer this question?
As an atheist i don't see the need for a specific meaning for the universe, or point to why it exists, but if you're religious there must be a purpose to why god/allah etc created heaven, hell, earth, the whole universe. So we're crated, given 'free will', die, go to heaven. But what or? Why would god do that? Was he bored?

I'm not asking for a reason why god had to create earth, because I have heard answers e.g Life on earth is a test. I'm asking why everything in the first place?

No religious person on earth can answer this and I don't think any religious text provides an answer as well. Most religious people know the meaning of their life but don't question why God does what he does because that is beyond their and anyone's comprehension.

The reason there is a universe because the higgs boson essentially containing everything in the universe(as matter and energy) in a singularity basically blew out in the big bang releasing everything. The shear energy created photons and mass as simple quarks which bonded, first forming hydrogen nuclei,in the first picoseconds of the universe. As everything was flying out,the imense heat allowed hydrogen to fuse into helium. As more and more mass was converted from energy(e=mc2) the gravitational attraction between nuclei created the first stars, which then leads to the creation of further elements as the stars fuse heavier element(providing its large enough),new elements + mass = planets, etc.

That's the physics reason for the universe; fundamental laws of the universe, namely the conservation of mass and energy and newtons law of gravitation.

They say god knows EVERYTHING far beyond the mere comprehension of man, it is impossible to fatham his motives.

We have an obsession with reality TV, maybe God does as well.

And our purpose in life is to merely exist for his entertainment?

As a Christian, I believe upon entering the Kingdom of Heaven, an unlimited amount of questions will be answered - about the universe, as well as all supernatural stuff etc.
Basically everything that we have ever wondered about or wanted to know that the Bible hasn't already expalined, will be revealed to us.
I believe your question posed is one of those questions, because it is behond any human being's comprehension to give an explanation for this. We are here because God put us here. Enough said.
Either one believes as a person of faith, or one believes as a person of no faith that the universe just 'put us here', for no apparent reason.

    God is worthy of worship
Hence He created humans to worship Him
And the earth and animals etc were created for the use of humans

Before the humans the angels used to worship God -so why humans? Why not just angels? Humans make mistakes and do wrong doings?
Because the quality of remorse and asking for forgiveness - essentially a good quality - can not be found in angels.

    with the help of God:

The universe was made so that we could go to eternal bliss where we will receive the ultimate pleasure- being bound to God to become like God to almost be part of God
However to do this we must earn it first or else we would be the polar opposite of God; a taker but not a giver
we therefore must become like God on this world by overcoming our desires and realising the truth.

your question wasnt clear but i think that i understood it if i didnt then please rephrase it

So he created the universe so the creatures he created to fill the universe he just created could earn a place in heaven. I smell circular logic.

god probably got bored so made the universe - a bit like building an extravagant trainset.

but in all seriousness, his motives may be mysterious and beyond our comprehension.

This "beyond comprehension" thing, seems to crop up a lot. If it is true, why do so many religious people interpret their religion so diversely? There would be no religious sects.

we have been given limited knowledge about the universe and we don't have the mental capacity to comprehend these things.

human are dependent on god and humans are weak with limited knowledge.

    Cause and Effect.

If the effect was the Big Bang...what was the cause?

Muslims believe that this life is just a short test from Allah- we have been placed in this world only to worship him and obey him- that us our purpose. We will recieve our 'results' on the Day of Judgement and every soul will carry their own burdens and sins and receive reward and punishment for their deeds/misdeeds in the afterlife. Just explainin
