Accommodation for people doing foundation degrees
    Hi

I'm starting a foundation degree in September. The accommodation guide says "University accommodation is not normally provided for University students studying at the Associate Colleges, for example those undertaking foundation courses". I'm a little bit panicky as I hadn't seen that bit in the guide until today, I must've missed it, and I've already accepted my place.

I have emailed the uni to find out more about this, but whilst I wait for their reply, has anyone done (or is starting) a foundation degree and still been able to stay in halls or other accommodation? I wonder if anyone knows the likelihood of them making an exception, as I live in Devon, or what else it would depend on?

On the same note, could anyone give me some info on private accommodation in Hatfield? Namely how much I should expect to pay per week and the best people to speak to in order to arrange it.

    Thank you!

I'm in the same boat! Doing an extended degree based in Broxbourne thinking I could get halls - eek!

unfortunately they do not allow people doing a foundation degree to come live on campus and even if you live far away the chances are they will not make an exceptions. Places are tight enough on campus as it is, even with just the normal undergraduates!

I would advice you to get in touch with the students union housing agency who should be able to help you further in getting private accommodation: http://www.uhsu.co.uk/index2.php/services/lettings/

Prices for a room in a shared house usually costs around £75-£90 per week plus bills.

For a guide on living off-campus have a look here: http://www.herts.ac.uk/fms/documents...off-campus.pdf

Thank you for all the info

It's a shame I can't live on campus as I was really looking forward to it, but I won't let it stop me going. I'll have a read through the links you posted later on, hopefully I can get it sorted quickly and I've not left it too late!

    Hey guys!

I only got told yesterday I have been accepted with a change of course to do a foundation degree at West herts college and as far as I know the course starts on 17th sept according to my ucas track. Panic time! I have no accommodation I have been calling around but not had much luck, do you know anywhere I should be looking?

    Thanks!
