Nobody will look at you in the club, everyone is either drunk or having a good time with their friends so don't worry about that.

Expect loud music and not being able to hear anyone. I'd suggest a few drinks (if you drink that is...) to loosen you up a bit, so you can dance and have fun without worrying what anybody else thinks.

    Have fun!

This probably sounds really stupid but yeah I'm kind of nervous. It's just I have no idea what to expect, also I'm quite self conscious around people my age. I always get worried when I'm out that some one will say something horrible to me or laugh at me. Yeah this is stupid but I got bullied a lot when I was younger and still haven't really got over it. I'm just worried that people will say something to me I feel silly.

I just wish I could not care what people think. I will be with my friends but I guess it's just first time nerves or something.
Booze is the key pre-drink like a boss, never buy drink in clubs they rip you like theres no tomorrow -_-

    I'm sure you'll be fine.

Once the bouncers have finished their strip search and you get through the doors people only stare at you for the first hour or so.

I see you're from Leicester and I'm sure your friends would have already warned you but just a little reminder.... try to stay away from rapey Steve and crazy Joan who are often seen in that area near the main clubs. If you don't disturb them they wont disturb you.

I would say that you stay close to one of your friends just in case, as in many clubs you will get the odd guy/s trying to touch you up or what not.

And don't worry about any one staring or saying things to you. It's way too loud and people are either too busy or too drunk.

    No matter what Have fun

I'm 17 and have been to clubs simply because I'm tall and can get served. It's the best environment to be in, just enjoy yourself and have a few drinks and you'll feel comfortable in no time, believe me

But if you don't wanna get too out of control, avoid the vodka shots at the start of the night because they creep up on you.

Personally I love all the vodka shots during the night

You'll be just fine. Dress well, but remember to wear what you feel comfortable in.

Just smile and try to look confident. A couple of drinks and you'll feel just at home.

And if you don't enjoy yourself, don't worry, not many people like going clubbing anyway.

You need self-esteem help, I suggest you go see someone about it.

I'm not being horrid but that level of social anxiety that you describe isn't healthy.

Who are they?! I am a fresher at De Montfort starting September. They sound like right characters...

OP, have pre-drinks with friends if you can, it'll make you feel at ease as you go into the nightclub and you'll probs play a few drinking games/have fun so it'll make you feel better. People will be enjoying themselves and not really take notice of you much (not that you're invisible or s/t) so just have a good time and dance and sing and just have an amazing night.

Don't go. Waste of time and money. A pub with a group of friends however....

There's nothing too be worried about. Just drink with your friends beforehand, go into the club and have fun. Nothing really daunting or scary - it's just dark with loud music and you have to shout a lot.

    Negatives:
too loud to talk, dancing to music is only for exhibitionists or people with rhythm (neither applying to me), you always get that tosser flailing around with his elbows too near your head etc

    positives:
drunk girls are really quite forward and if you're scrawny and not particularly attractive (both better descriptions of me), it could be just about the only female attention you're likely to get

I can almost guarantee it'll be fine and you will have a good time. You'll go in and realise its not that intimidating at all and not everyone is super-hip or anything. Just make sure to dress quite smartly, no trainers or anything.
