Can see how similar it is to Twilight.

Young girl, falls for man, he tries to stay away from her but can't, start a risky relationship, can't be without each other (exactly the same as Bella and Edward) oh and Leila going after Anastasia is just like Victoria going after Bella. Also she is obsessed with England and literature just like Bella.

Only halfway through the second book and yeah it is very erotic but it is also a story, and I am a reader. It annoys me these people who have never read a book in their life who are just reading it because it's 'porn'!

Whoever ruined my 70 rep to 0 neg ratio....watch your back
I might need to read this just so I can slag it off more accurately. The excerpts I have read are tacky and badly written. It's portrayal of BDSM as something that stems from abuse and mental instability is doing those of us who enjoy consensual kink no favours at all. It is not a representative of healthy, consensual, mutual S&M or D/s but I fear it is being used as a 'BDSM 101' by some people. Just... ugh.

This may sound weird, but does anyone know why it's called 50 Shades of Grey? I haven't read it, but is there some sort of significance of the title? Did they meet in the paint section of Homebase or something?

Lol I was thinking Dulux!

Well the guy's name is Christian GREY and he loves S&M.

Just sayin'.

Oh god. Who did this? Whoever they are, they are such a legend :')
I started reading it (the boyfriend loved it) and I've just got to the point where he spanked her for the first time... and I'm bored of it. :erm: It's too repetitive and I just don't like Christian. :frown:
Reminds me, I was reading "Porno" by Irvine Welsh (a sequel to Trainspotting) a while ago on the train and the middle-aged women across from me noticed and started whispering loudly to each other about how inappropriate it was and giving me filthy looks. I bet if it had been FSOG, they wouldn't have batted an eyelid because it's so ubiquitous now.

I should have done. They got off fairly soon after that, luckily.

Or I could have asked them if they wanted a peek :colone: Not that there's even much sex in it, really.

I love moaney old people - you just have to laugh at them sometimes!
My friend's going to write a parody '50 shades of pink'- hopefully it'll be published too and she can earn some millions
I hate it that if you read Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, A Song Of Ice and Fire etc, you're looked upon as weird or reclusive or a loner... and yet if you read a book filled with, what I've heard is not very exciting, sex and "oh my" and "lip biting" and "inner goddess", you're suddenly some kind of literary expert and joining a worldwide craze without any shame.

Yeah, they can. Some people are uber sensitive and will have orgasms from anything. There's nothing wrong with the series, its not real, it's a fantasy in more ways than one. Also, whats wrong with having sex while a woman is on? and there's nothing wrong with kinky whip sex during pregnancy. The baby probably does like it too because of the feelings the mother gets from sex and her orgasm, its all connected inside. I enjoyed the book, it was great to read, and I'm not a pleb. It's just a book. They're meant to take you away from the world your in and imagine something else, which is what this book does for so many people.

I just realised people have thought what I said negative. I haven't said anything hurting anyone? I just said what I know to be true.

Didn't see anybody complaining when they mentioned it in Scrubs.
Well, except JD.

To be clear, I mean the baby enjoying sex, not anything to do with Fifty Shades.
