    Ahahahaha, I love these issues
Maybe you should design a new chapstick and market it to the 50 Shades of Grey readers who will all now have no lips left after trying to emulate their heroine!
The twilight fans seem to buy a lot of merchandise so we could start up a new range. Chapstick first, neck braces, blusher (with some catchy phrase). We could do 'Team Christian' shirts. It would be a travesty if people actually buy into this sort of thing.

I got this book now for my Kindle and man it is slow going, I'm up to Chapter 21 so just over 2/3 of the way there and it is such an effort having to force myself to read a couple more chapters every sitting.

The book is crap, there is nothing exciting about the sex, unless it seriously picks up in the final third. So far all its been is him spanking her ass and fingering her, then shagging her, and because she was a virgin before this, thinks this is all amazing and she gets orgasms every time. Apart from the sex the storyline is rubbish, absolutely NOTHING is happening apart from her going round to this guy's to get spanked, oh apart from she's moved to Seattle. There's no plot or story. Surely there aren't three books in this series just taking about her going round to his house and having sex.

The main male character comes across as a bit of a faggot anyway, he flinches away from being touched, he writes her cringeworthy emails and he's showering her with gifts throwing money at her. If you want to do the whole I'm a cool detached badass who treats em mean to keep em keen don't buy the girl a frigging Audi. He just seems such a loser and it doesn't even turn me on what he's doing to her because he seems so lame. I would have preferred if this main character was some manly decisive alpha male who made his woman know when she was shagged she stayed shagged , like Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, and then didn't act like a creepy gimp the rest of the time like this 50 Shades of Gimp.

I can imagine pretty much every girl I know, if they came across a guy like him, would have sacked him off as a freak within about 2 dates and would the be laughing to all their friends about his odd behaviour and his 'contract'.

I'm onto the second book and wanting to pull my eyes out.

The biggest problem for me is that it sounds like the awfully written monologue of a bloody 14 year old! this woman is a college graduate not a bloody child, leaving a man shouldn't be the damned end of her life. Am only a few pages into number two, if that, and im sick of the crying and depression its awful.

And then to add to that people were going on about how its so kinky and blush-worthy..it's nothing outragous, it's a little bit pathetic. Im trying to give the author some credit and say that it's made to sound so exciting because she's a virgin so everything is new and amazing but oh my god its just irritating!

¬.¬ waste of money...luckily the boyfriend bought them not me lol!

I thought there was just the one... but THREE?

After reading some stuff about the book, it worries me now that friends have been wanting guys to be like that.

"Where is my 50 shades of grey man"
"I wish I could get a guy like in 50 shades of grey"

I'm single! Though I certainly wouldn't want to be like him.

Terrible work of erotica. Plot is basically; billionaire finds cute girl. They have sex. The sex gets kinkier and kinkier.

It seriously feels like it's been written by teenagers. The main character is tall, dark, handsome, a billionaire, has an enormous dick, doesn't have to work much, spends his money helping those in poverty, ripped, etc. Basically all of the mainstream attractive traits blown up massively in proportion.

Throw in cute virgin girl discovering her darker sexual desires and you have a wonderful formula for wetting the panties of the more reserved female readers. It's the literary equivalent of really cliche porn. All exaggerated oooh and aaahing, not much real substance.

Sounds like a complete pile of ****e!.A lot of my friends are raving about it, but it's not my cup of tea.I wont be buying it.

the writing is just tragic, its a truly horrific piece of literature.

but i do so wish that christian grey existed. every girl does!
    Thats just you.

If i CG existed i'd kick him in the face. over and over again. He's a sick, twisted, possessivle, jealous control freak stalker! She can't so much as look at another man without him getting "twitchy palms" If anyone even thought of treating me the way he did i'd walk 'em off a bloody cliff!

My nan's read it three times... :teehee:

On a serious note, I read a few pages, it's terrible. Mills and boon do a better old lady porn story.

Read a few pages of it because my work is actually deserted at the moment. Not a soul has been here for about an hour. I'm already sick of her subconscious!!!!

When I heard it's actually a Twilight fanfiction turned into original story, I already lost interest. I tried reading the first book of Twilight and managed to finish it with gritted teeth. Although, I just found out recently that a friend of mine is reading 50 Shades of Gray, and she said she can relate to the main character. So maybe I'll have a good chat about this book with her over a cup of coffee just to find out the appeal. I've read a few passage from the book, and the writing (especially the 'hot' part) seems awkward at best.

I've just finished reading the trilogy and I really enjoyed them to be honest. I study English Literature at university and had a lot of doubts about it before reading but decided to give it a fair go to have my own opinion on it. As many people have said, it's very unlikely that it will win any literary prizes as the writing isn't amazing with many phrases being repeated over and over but I got past that and was really drawn into it. I enjoyed the story/plot as there were many exciting twists and turns but I would have liked to have read the novel without the sex scenes or at least without as many of them as they spoiled it for me.

I've read on kindle and it's nothing special, have to admit I only read because of all the hype. Got a relative who works for Warwickshire Library service and she said reservation list is up to 70 (probably about 5 if you don't include members of staff). Apparently it is more popular than Harry Potter. I still much prefer Annie Murray type books anyway.

I also have read it only for the hype. I have almost finished the 1st book and don't think I will continue. it is so repetitive and boring. The sex isn't at all graphic like people have said, in fact pretty average. Also, if I ever see the words, flush, inner goddess, holy **** etc one more time I think I will scream.

It's seriously all I'm hearing about.. people who've shown no remote interest in reading are now reading this? And when I've asked what it's about the response has been "It's a porn book".

    What is the hype?
It's actually a good read, it is very sexual indeed but the story is still really good. I've just finished it (about 10 minute ago) and can't wait to read the next one. I JUST REALLY WANT TO FIND OUT WHY HE'S SO MESSED UP!!!!

The end did make me cry a bit and I had to stop reading after he pulled out the tampon, waaaay to graphic!
