    Bocconi undergrad
So I posted this on international but didn't get any replies so I'm reposting here

Basically, I've read a bunch of posts regarding their course taught in English and how it's too easy or not on par with the rest of the bocconi courses. So is this true or just a rumor??also any opinions are welcome)

I've also heard this, and am curious to know

I think I saw a post a while ago from a student there, basically confirming these rumours. Unfortunately, it's the only clarification I've seen on this subject; it'd be good to hear someone else's opinion.

Well seems like theres a lot of negative rumors going on about BIEMF and Bocconi in general on this forum, although I can't seem to find any recent posts about it. Anyway Bocconi scores pretty high on the ft and on other rankings and far better than a lot of British unis that are considered superior on this forum so I'm definitely confused..

I always thought Bocconi had a very strong reputation in economics? Or is this simply for postgrad courses?

Unfortunately I do not have any friend that is following that course in english so I do not have an opinion from inside.

I have to say that, in general, sometimes it seems that the english courses are slightly easier than the italian homologues but i cannot be sure about that because it is something about the evaluations not about the topic taught during the lectures, that are exactly the same.
In any case, as far as I know economics (DESS should be the name i have understood correctly which course do you intend) is the hardest Bocconi course, so, also with this bias, I would not define it EASY
So it seems grading is more lenient, but the course is actually the same. I can well imagine them doing this since a) it attracts foreigners and b) the Italian grading system is very easy, like if you apply to UK unis with Italian grades you need like 90% +. It might be that they give the English course more UK grades where a first is 70% - BUT this might be total rubbish, I don't know.

Perhaps it also has to do with the language barrier, since most professors must be italian but about the actual contents of the course idk I need more info...

Any bocconi students on tsr ??

    Bocconi and its myths
Hello there. Before I start, just to clear things, Bocconi has a very high international reputation. I'd say top UK Uni( Oxbridge,Warwick, LSE..)>Bocconi>all other very good/good/mediocre Uni. Plus, the SDA school of management is considered top-notch, and its MaGER program (M in green environment) is 6th in
    the world.

BTW, I'm admitted to the BIEMF program starting fall 2012 (just ten days to go, how time flies!). I'm interested in the same subject, and pretty much everything there is to know about bocconi, so any further info on the topic is welcomed with opened arms.

I read a lot of posts about bocconi and its courses during my pre-enrollment period, so I consider myself quite informed.
Also, I have a couple of friends studying at bocconi (bachelor, (specialized) master, alumni..) and all of them have mostly positive remarks about their studies, although there are some complaints on their professors not knowing English well enough.( to back that up, when I sat the bocconi test back in February, I hardly understood the instructions read by the assistant  .. simply, Italians generally have a problem with the English accent..) In such cases, and if the vast majority of the class agrees, they can replace the professor and get a more suitable alternative.. My friends
class succeeded and excelled by doing so..

Exams are mainly written so there is no controversy (that foreign students are mistreated) , and every student has his code so other student don't know how well someone did..

And life in general is great, which for me is also very important. Italians are friendly and they don't mind if you don't understand their language, although the Italian girls tend to speak only with people who know their language... so I've heard So guys, start practicing

Anyways... There is certainly a saying that biemf is a bit easier than other bachelor programs. Why? Because it's a wide-known fact(around the campus) that the average biemf student GPA>GPA of other bachelor programs. That's because the class, although primarily international, consists of roughly 50% italians, and biemf professors are eager to help their students knowing its their second language and knowing how much effort they put in to comprehend and learn the curriculum... Furthermore, it leaves enough room for students who already master English to distinguish themselves. And with a better GPA, there are greater opportunities for an internship and so on..

But the truth is that the books for biemf and other bachelor programs are literally the same... Except biemf students are exempt from the part related to Italian law, which makes sense..

So,basically, you get the same amount of knowledge, but with a better GPA.. Sound good, doesn't it?

To sum up, definitely consider coming to Milano... I bet you won't regret it.

So we'll be classmates then. Great! What class will you be? I'm class 17. Btw, I'm renting a nice apartment close to the University, I was very lucky. A 5 min walk. good luck with your application. Where are you from? P.S. Look up Prof. Luca Fantacci lectures on economic history.. He speaks English fluently I guess he brakes one of the stereotypes on bocconi professors.

    Re: Bocconi undergrad
I suggest that, if you already haven't done this, type in the fb search box BIEMF and the first thing that comes out should be the Bocconi BIEMF 2012-2015 group... more than half of the students admitted are already there..
