Re: Got caught shopliftingAnd? Stealing is never justified.(Original post by zaliack)
You'd be surprised. The reason they didn't get police involved is most likely because they can fine them an extortionate fee this way. The fee is unlikely to be lawful, but the constant threat of a criminal record will most likely force the guy to pay it, even if it is £200+ -

Attention Serious and Organised Crime Agency: I am in no way advocating large-scale art theft, I am not planning to rob the Louvre, etc. etc.

Re: Got caught shopliftingIt's £70, I think. I know an idiot who stole mascara from Superdrug and I think the fine was £70/£75.(Original post by say_what)
I stole some eye drops from Boots and got caught after I had left the shop. I've got a lifetime ban from that branch but got off without the police getting called. I'm gonna get a letter from Retail Loss Prevention with a bill to pay, does anyone know around how much it will be, ball park figures? -

Well, your damn lucky that the police weren't called for a start...
If I were you I would be bloody grateful you got out of it so easily, and didn't get a criminal record.
They should make you walk around somewhere crowded with a sign that says I'm a thief.
EDIT: Wow, a lot of shoplifters on TSR it seems, judging from all the neg.
