Nursing finance changing from diploma to degree in final year.
I am asking on behalf of a friend who is transfering from a diploma in nursing to a degree in nursing next year. She has previously completed 2 years of the diploma and has received the NHS bursary which worked out at around £550 a month. If she changes to the degree program for the final year what monthly payments would she receive and where would they come from.. IE student loan NHS etc.
What would each source amount to, how would she apply to these funding sources and is there any kind of deadline?
Also in regards to tuiton fees I understand these are still paid by for the NHS. Would she still be required to pay back any loans that she takes in the final year or will these also come from the NHS?
Any advice will be fantastic .
Thanks very much -

Re: Nursing finance changing from diploma to degree in final year. She can apply for a student loan from Student Finance, which is £2324 a year if she is living away from home, which she would receive at the start of every term (3 instalments). Her NHS bursary would be income assessed, and she would continue to get this in monthly instalments. The amount would depend on her cicrumstances (she can get an estimate of her entitlement from the NHS Bursary Calculator).(Original post by danielpiggott)

She can apply for Student Finance online through the direct.gov website. As this is non-income assessed, it's not too urgent that she applies straight away, but knowing how tricky Student Finance can be, advise her to apply sooner rather than later. How would she apply to these funding sources and is there any kind of deadline?
Your friend should have received a letter from the NHSBSA about applying for the bursary on paper/online with instructions on how to do so, or will receive one very soon.
She will have to pay back the loan from Student Finance, with interest after she graduates and is earning. Everything else is non-repayable.Also in regards to tuiton fees I understand these are still paid by for the NHS. Hope that helps.
