Sound Problem on 2011 MacBook Pro
    Hi

Recently I've had a problem that when I'm listening to music through headphones, then take the headphones out, the sound on my MacBook Pro doesn't work. The only way to fix it is to restart the laptop.

I'm running the latest OSX software.

Anyone any ideas how to fix the problem or should I just take it to the apple store?

    Thanks!

Before going to the Apple store, check for driver updates.........there should be one for your sound card.

Try that before going to the store.

First and foremost install any available updates as Iqbal has suggested. If the problem persists, go into System Preferences, then choose Sound and go to the Output pane. You should see the option for Internal Speakers, which will change to Headphones when you plug them in. If upon unplugging the headphones again the option does not revert back to Internal Speakers, then that's where the issue will be and they will hopefully be able to sort it at your local Apple Store [=
