    Sixth form induction day
    Hey everyone,

So i'm going to an induction day and i only know 1 person... any general tips and advice? I'm not a shy person but i'm feeling quite nervous and awkward about it

Also for the most of the day we're going bowling. The dress code for girls- Suit with either trouser suit or skirt suit and a blouse or shirt. Will it be silly if i wear a skirt for bowling?

    Thanks in advance guys!

Your going bowling on an induction day? I mean, its awesome and everything but surely that's just a waste of time.

Don't worry about not knowing anyone, I'm sure there will be people there in a very similar position to you and you meet new people.

There is no reason to feel nervous, just enjoy yourself.

And I'm a lad so I'm not a skirt expert, but put one on and do a bowling move and see if it is all right. If your really worried just wear trousers.

For our induction, we have two days of sample lessons. Just try and be nice to everyone and make conversation! I'd probably go with trousers for bowling.

Did you find out what teachers you would have next year? Really apprehensive about knowing mine because there is a certain physics teacher with an environmental science degree (I know right?) who is hopeless who I want to avoid.

I don't know for certain. I mean for Geography we only have 2 teachers and they teach A-Level together (one teaches the human and the other the physical) so clearly I know I will get them both. I know who will take me for German as we only have one German teacher but as for Biology and Maths...will find out in September. I have my fingers crossed for certain teachers (and wanting to avoid some!) I hope you don't get that Physics teacher...we have a Biology teacher who taught me at GCSE and she isn't the greatest. My mum says she would call in and get me switched if I got her next year

One of the female biology teachers at my school has massive hands like a man and a moustache.

My induction day is on Friday, Im nervous too. Theres about 20 people going from my school but theres like 600 students in that year so i doubt i'll see them. No friends though, they are all going to other colleges. I'm going to do my best to make friends with lots of people, this is a fresh start, a new start, induction day is to make friends so i'll probably talk to anyone and try my best to make friends. I'm known for being quiet at my school and I don't really like the whole quiet girl repuation it makes me look boring. I'm quite because i don't like the people there :P

So im basically going to try and meet as many people as possible i want to make the most of induction day and hopefully meet people with similar aspirations as me. I'm looking forward to it. Is you college uniform or non uniform or do you have to dress smartly? What will you be wearing?

Non uniform at mine. Me and my friends are all going in 'geeky' t-shirts. Cause we're the cool kids.

I have a whole induction week at the sixth form i'm hoping to attend! I'm kind of in the same boat as you, i will only know 2 people one of them being my brother, the other his best friend. I'm so scared! I'm so shy and have no sense of direction so will probably get lost in the school -.-
I'm meant to wear smart but casual clothes (i only own jeans and band tees!). I dont see anything wrong with you wearing a skirt (: Good luck!

Aw well at least you'll know quite a few people and be able to meet them in break! I only know this 1 boy and i don't really want to stay with the guys all the time haha. I'm lookign for a fresh start too, so i've put myslef in this position but hopefully it will be worth it in the end Lmao i'm quite loud and bubbly at my current school Maybe this will give you the chance to act like yourself with people you like

It's not uniform but i have to dress smartly! I actually brought some nice blouses from Zara and skirts today, you should look there! Also got a really nice pair of shoes from Office Do you have to wear a uniform or not?

I'm going to be wearing a blazer (part of the dress code) with a skirt all the time probably And then blouses, girly ones because that's my style aha, with heels most of the time! How about you?

Aw try not to stick around with your brother too much Well that's what i woild do if i was you haha. A whole week? :O That's a bit much! Do you have an agenda for what you will be going? I'm sure you won;'t get lost if you just stick with people you make friends with

Ahhh awesome. Smart casual sounds like a rounded choice you'll have! Are you going to just wear jeans and band tees then? I think that would be a bit too casual tbh! And okay thanks, that's reassuring! Got a nice skirt today, pencil

Bowling will be a great socialiser which is good as it means you'll be able to chat to plenty of people.

Try not to be too worried - many people will be in the same situation as you and I have always found that people tend to be more mature in sixth form and I get on with a lot of people that i would never normally have talked to beforehand. A good (although unoriginal) way to get talking to people is to ask about subject choices etc - if you have one in common then you can talk about that which will lead onto something else, and even if you don't you can always ask what made them pick x, y or z as a subject

    Good Luck
