K-POP the latest trend infecting the world ?
K-pop, or Korean Pop as it's originally called, has recently after these last few years created a whole new trend. I'm seeing things on the internet which show me that a K-POP star may be performing at the London Olympics 2012 opening ceremony. I'm surprised to see it has spread so quickly and that most people each LOVE it or HATE it.
Personally I love some groups/artists in K-Pop. for example. SHINee.
I just wanted to hear your views on it coming to the UK and spreading vastly throughout the world?

i recently got into kpop this year and have become a pretty big fan although i know there are way more hardcore fans out there that are bigger fans that i am. i think it's awesome that kpop is becoming so popular as it's very different, and i also find that it's completely different to English/American Pop which i'm not a huge fan of, whereas normally i'd consider myself to be more of an indie/slow rock/punk person myself, which is why i was so surprised that i like k pop. i'm a huge fan of big bang and u kiss, and there's loads more songs that i like from different bands like B2ST, SHINee and MBLAQ. the list goes on really...
oh and i think it'd be amazing if they were to perform at the London 2012 olympics, i voted for Big Bang it'd give them a lot more publicity and be a way to show k pop to the rest of the world.

It's truly truly dreadful... Thankfully it's only really popular with select groups of internet weeaboos and not the general public.

It's quite an acquired taste. you either love it or hate it, I agree. I have close family in Malaysia and whenever we stay over at theres, my cousins show us what music they listen to and korean pop is quite popular. I think it's quirky and different to our pop which makes it interesting.

I have to agree, some parts annoy me a lot, like the cringy cuteness but i really like the talented singers like the new singer Ailee, if anyone knows her, she really is amazing.

I think its really great and I love K-Pop but I don't get why they'd open the London Olympics in my opinion. I thought we'd want to showcase British musicians

Rofl whenever newbies to kpop see this they completely start to hate kpop. I personally cringe when i see this video lol. I think SNSD are great but i wouldn't introduce anyone to kpop with this video.

I don't think the western world is ready for any asian group to break through. Unfortunately ! Girl's generation had a good go at it .

So wait, they sing part of the song in English and part in Korean, sounds like a great idea to reach hyper large audiences: multilingual songs could be the future?
