Re: Starting an eBay shop!
I think you'd have more success with something more physical, like a market stall. Ebay are constantly adding various charges to thinks as it's success is slowly fading (don't get me wrong it's still a massive company). Packaging used to be a way to gain back some of the ridiculous charges, now that's capped no one seems interested and unless you're selling in mass and above a certain price threshold it's just not worth it when it comes to deductions (as you will then have to tax your earnings). Amazon is fairly cheaper, and is the market leader and an over all better option, but I'd still go with something more interactive and physical as you can gain more life skills and potentially sell a lot more with minimal charges. (but that's just my opinion) x

Re: Starting an eBay shop!Sorry to be negative but personally I wouldn't bother. There's so many people already doing this on Ebay or other websites and therefore the margins are extremely low. You won't be able to compete with the other more established sellers who can buy in bulk.(Original post by Jay Cartwright)
Looking to open an ebay shop selling phone accessories
Is their anyone on here who has an ebay shop and can explain the basics of it?
As stated above it might be better if you start by buying some good phone accessories that will sell well (e.g. iphone ones) and flog them for a reasonable margin at a high end market stall. -

I done this last year, my dad works in China and sent me over some accesories at the cheapest of prices along with bulk loads of aviator sunglasses and various other bits an pieces.. Im struggling to shift any of them. The ebay shop was a complete flop as I couldnt compete with people, even when I had a tiny margin and went cheaper than other sellers people would rather pay the extra 20pence to get it from someone with 19200 feedback score. It was something that was feasable but now it is not, as too many people have beat us to it. As the guy in the above post says, they are established and get a lot of repeat custom.
Not to mention the complexity of the whole thing. It sounds a lot simpler than it actual is. And you have to be very careful with your listings in regards to tax, copyright, etc. Its not worth it,trust me. But if you do go ahead with things, then I wish you the best of luck.
By the way.. If anyone wants £2,000 worth of sunglasses let me know hahaha.
