Just thought I'd post this here, since we all know that no one else would've.

JAIPUR, India -- Police say a man upset over his daughter's lifestyle chopped her head off with a sword and then paraded it through his village before surrendering to authorities in western India.

Marble miner Ogad Singh's 20-year-old daughter had been living with her parents in the Rajasthani village of Dungarji after leaving her husband two years ago.

Police Superintendent Umesh Ojha says Singh was upset by his daughter having affairs with men, and became enraged when she eloped with one of them two weeks ago.

Ojha says Singh forced her to return home Sunday, and beheaded her Monday with a sword.

Rapidly modernizing India faces increasing social clashes as youths resist traditions like arranged marriage or limits on women venturing outside their parents' or husbands' homes.

I wonder why this will this never be important news.
India? Let's not send any aid unless they stop this barbaric practice.

At least this incident didn't occur in Britain (for the mean time).

As far as I'm concerned, India needs to sort out its own problems (of which they have many).

I mean, the main reason why there are arranged marriages in these parts of the world is because if it weren't for them, they wouldn't be able to have any girlfriends. Shameful, just shameful they have to coerce women into marrying them. There are damn good many reasons why a woman shouldn't marry men from those parts of the world.

Is being friendly in a debate morally wrong now too?
Nope, just seemed odd in the context of what you were saying, as if you thought the father 'deciding for' (ie. murdering) his daughter was ok

Well she had a life and now she doesn't. Life is a gift he stole her life because she wasn't doing as he told her to do. No person has the right to dictate to others how to live their life.
He gave her life in the first instance...

She sounded like a waste of space anyway IMHO. For the same reason as he killed her.

It'll never get posted here cause it was one murder that occurred over in India. Do you expect the news organizations to dedicate all their screen time to listing out murders throughout the world?

Props to you however, must have taken a while on google to find this.

Then there's no point in us carrying this discussion on as I really don't want to talk to someone like you

Well, suit yourself - I don't see the problem really. Perhaps you are just not very open-minded.

I'm open-minded enough to let people live their own lives and make their own decisions, even if they're not decisions I agree with, without judging them for it. For you to call a girl a waste of space because of decisions she made in her own life, that had no affect on you, is not only disrespectful to someone who was disgustingly murdered but also suggests it might be you who's the narrow-minded one.

I just wanted to end the conversation because people with views like the one you expressed usually aren't the most reasonable bunch, and there's usually not a lot to learn from having a discussion with them besides how depressing humanity can be.

Depressing to you perhaps, you should embrace your feelings for humanity, and you would realise what a waste of space we are in general. Then you would understand.

Don't try and sound all deep to justify your horrible comments. Regardless of whether our race is a 'waste of space' or not, we're here, so we may as well appreciate the beauty of life and living on this planet rather than wasting time and people's lives squabbling over insignificant things such as people's choice of sexual partner. What he did is unjustifiable and goes to prove the general self-righteousness of some human beings. We'll all mean nothing in a million years time, just live and let live.

because you're the kind of guy who deliberately brings up stuff just to provoke a response in people.

Not really, there's a lesson to be learned here. I don't think you quite get it.

Taking a life is evidently a fitting punishment for someone having 'affairs'.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

But in this case, the father is a murderer and the DIVORCED daughter was practicing this amazing thing called free will. Honour killings are ridiculous and to be honest shows the lack of love people who commit th have for thier children. Be disappointed, be angry.. dont murder.

I feel so sorry for that girl, i really hate when this happens. I also agree that because it's not a muslim who did it, no-one on TSR is as bothered. If a muslim did this, 2 or 3 people would already have made a thread about it.
