Re: What came first, the chicken or the egg?The chick which was in the egg came first because something which wasn't quite what we'd call a chicken today would have laid an egg who's genes had been slightly mutated to make it a chicken.

Re: What came first, the chicken or the egg?Stupid as both egg and chicken are poorly defined. And anyway, evolution means that a bird didn't suddenly go from not being a chicken to being a chicken - instead it would have slowly acquired more chicken-ness over time. And chicken-ness is a very human imposed quality.

There's no point at which something becomes a chicken so the question is impossible to answer because, language being as it, nobody could identify the "first" chicken. Or indeed the first egg.(Original post by 3nTr0pY)
