    The chicken but that depends on how you see it. For example one might say that God made Adam and Eve and THEN their kids were born. So I would say that the male chicken and female chicken came first and THEN their egg. The egg would be the equivalent of a baby then?

    Direct answer: The egg as dinosaurs layed eggs long before chickens.

    If the question was: "What came first? The chicken or the chicken egg?"
    Then it would be the chicken.

    The mutations within the pre-chicken caused the chicken to be hatched.

    So it's the pre-chicken.
