    I'm afraid it's common practice in many schools and it's one of the reasons I give stuff to everybody at the ends of terms or as prizes in genuinely open competitions and the rest of the time they get verbal praise for doing the right thing and an acerbic put down for doing the wrong thing. But then I'm old fashioned.
    If that's being old fashioned, then, please, can all my teachers be old fashioned too!?

    of course not, getting sugary goodness at the end of a class test was my only motivation for ever doing the damn things!
