how to write a Science Revision Guide!
I am looking forward to write a revision guide book, am not a geek nor scientist, just finished college exams yesterday. The main thing that is driving me into this journey is that I have learned a lot in the world of science and maths and being a tutor at the same time to both a levels and gcse, i feel i have a lot to offer to the future science generation to help them succeed in their exams and uni.
I have not written a book before but I can analyse how other authors designed theirs and develop mine differently.
If you could tip me the process of starting to publishing, I would be very grateful.

Re: how to write a book!
I haven't got much experience in this at all, but if I can give you one bit of advice is that you need to plan plan plan.
Don't start writing a single word of it until you know exactly the layout, content, target audience etc. Most people jump into things to fast and end up bodging it and giving up. Do enormous amounts of research in already existing books. It is a massive amount of work and dedication you are entering yourself into, and you need to be sure you are good enough and have enough time and money to be doing this. -
Re: how to write a book! Many thanks for the invaluable advice, i know the content (the spec) properly as well as target audience, money is another factor i need to consider when publishing because even though am doing part time job i need to add extra hours, the problem might lay when selling.(Original post by Dobrzynski)

Buy a pen, buy some paper, and start writing on the newly bought paper with your newly bought pen.

Re: how to write a book!
The only bit of advice that I could give you when writing a book is research, research and research. Even though I have never been published (yet) I've already written two books spanning several hundred pages long. Sometimes I plan and sometimes I just write at the spur of the moment. However, it's crucial to do some research into things that you don't know. I've written books set in places that I haven't visited so I used google and google maps to research the area. Even when writing science fiction and fantasy books I had to do some research on diverse things such as how the ecosystem would work (Remember, even though the story might be set on another world you still need some elements of plausibility in it). Since you're thinking of writing a non-fiction book, I presume, you might need to do more research than other. You might also find it helpful to write down what topics each individual chapter will contain.

Re: how to write a book!
I wrote a book when I was 14/15. I didn't plan any of it though. I always liked looking at the full moon and one night there I was and I just felt inspired enough to write something. So I did. I think I wrote about 20-30 pages that night and then continued from there.
However, I'm not sure if I should give it a happy or sad ending so I left it all open

Re: how to write a book!do you mind explaining what ghost writer mean.(Original post by thunder_chunky)
Use a ghost writer. It's what the airhead celebrities do when they want to release their silly autobiographies or tell all books. -

Re: how to write a book!I'm planning on writing a biology revision guide, it's such a difficult subject well it is for me. I think it would be useful to have something were the notes are condensed into essential points.(Original post by al_habib)
