Optimum hours of sleep?
How many hours? I think 7 is fine for me, but I do tend to sleep for much longer.
I notice when I haven't been sleeping, when I go sleep late, and have to wake up early for work at 7.30am for example and only get a few hours sleep. I feel fine for the first day without much sleep. But if I continue to only sleep for a few hours for the second day and third day. My eyes feels very heavy on the 4th day and when I do try to sleep on the 4th day, it takes a while before I can sleep. I manage to get some sleep last night, and don't think I need sleeping tablets.
Is this the same with you? I don't know how people manage to function without sleep. I keep hearing people clubbing/partying for a whole week and not sleeping at all, and feel fine and able to work, or go University the next day, how do they manage? I assume they proberly sleep during the day. But I find it hard to sleep for long hours during the day. Also, people working nightshifts, I don't know how they manage either. -
Re: Optimum hours of sleep?
I need at least 10 hours sleep, its ridiculous but if I get any less I end up falling asleep during the day! I wish I could last with just a couple of hours, people who can get less than 8 and feel fine are so lucky! My mum always teases me and says i'm just lazy but I swear i'm not

Re: Optimum hours of sleep? If you regularly get more than that, you need more than that. Being able to go a few nights on 4/5 doesn't mean your body only needs that much.(Original post by LizTheCatgirl)
I only really need 5, and can manage on 4, but usually I end up getting more than that anyway. I've never attempted to keep a regular sleeping pattern so I don't really know lol

Re: Optimum hours of sleep? What I meant was, most nights during term time, I'll stay up till 3 or 4 am, and then be up again at 8 for uni, and that's fine. But on a day where I don't need to be up at 8, I could happily stay in bed for hours longer, if you see what I mean(Original post by ThePants999)

Re: Optimum hours of sleep? And what I meant was, that's your body telling you that it would really like it if you could stop staying up until 3 or 4 am so often(Original post by LizTheCatgirl)

Re: Optimum hours of sleep?I think it varies from person to person. Some people seem okay with just 6 or 7 hours of sleep per night. I need 9, otherwise I feel too tired the next day. Also, I feel tired if I go to bed late and get up late, even I still get my 9 hours shuteye. So I try to keep fairly regular hours, otherwise I'm just an exhausted mess.(Original post by GuyUK)

Re: Optimum hours of sleep? For some people who do this, the solution is cocaine, or possibly other drugs like speed/pills etc. Sure you can go for 3-4 days without sleeping whilst on a heavy coke session, but then comes the come down.....(Original post by GuyUK)

They won't go boasting about the god awful come down that they endured for the next 3-4 days as well. They'll just tell you about the great times partying.
Other people are probably lying, you won't be able to go for a week without sleep and still be the life and soul of the party. -
Re: Optimum hours of sleep?Haha, you're probably right. Shadows under my eyes are probably another clue...(Original post by ThePants999)
