Re: Medicine introductory reading list.
Universities have told me to not at ALL bother with extra reading on medical topics.
Stick to learning your A level text books and science from school.
As I was told yesterday by a Medical Admissions officer and Tutor, she said she hated when people tried to do extra reading and learn about medicine before they were meant to. You will have NO advantage in your personal statement/interview.
They are looking for the ideal person. They would rather have someone involved in their community and communication skills good than someone who is literally sprouting information that they have not yet been taught. You could be caught out in a interview!!!!!!! -
Re: Medicine introductory reading list.
Best thing you can do is read books written by doctors so you can broaden your understanding on ethical situations. I recommend this:

Re: Medicine introductory reading list.
I was asking the same question last year when I finally got a place at Med school. I picked up a couple of books, and tried to learn from them, but the only thing i learned was the bones in the hand. If you want to learn something, try to learn the anatomy of the arms and legs, but honestly don't bother. Enjoy your holiday, you'll learn medicine when you get to med school :P
