What ticks you off most in the car?
As per the title.
The top 3 things that really ticks me off are :-
1) Rattle noises, it really drives me crazy to hear rattles in a car.
2) Wind noises when the windows are up.
3) Any kind of smells, worst offenders are food odours, the smell of burning oil and exhaust fumes.
what are yours' ? -
Re: What ticks you off most in the car?
1) The fact I can't open my passenger side front window from the driver's side (I have an electric switch for my window but not the passenger one)... Whilst I don't need it a lot, if it's raining so much I can't see out of the window, and want to wind it down to get a better view, it's a pain in the bum!
That's the main one! -
Re: What ticks you off most in the car?
Key fob is breaking. Immobiliser goes off randomly. The driver side door isn't properly weather sealed, so moisture gets inside the car and there's usually a torrent of water as you open the door. The tyre seals are probably loose, and the tyres need inflating most weeks. The radio barely picks up half the channels our there. CD player doesn't work. Etc.
But hey, it's not my car

Re: What ticks you off most in the car?
When your friend decides to change the song and plays something crap.
Like recently, one disconnected my ipod and played Beyonce-If I was a boy off his iPod -_-
I wanted to hit him. Very hard.
Also, when people comment on your driving, especially people that can't drive... -
Re: What ticks you off most in the car?
Passengers.
Particularly the ones who try to change the song / radio, put their feet on the dashboard, leave their rubbish in the car etc. My boyfriend used to do all of those and in the end I actually pulled over and told him to get out. It's just so annoying.
He also once tried to hold my hand when I was changing gear.. really..?
Edit: I have a "no smelly / messy food" policy in the car, yet my boyfriend's friend decided to ignore that and started eating a sugar-coated jam doughnut. I told him not to but he just shrugged and carried on eating.
I don't think I've ever been so pissed off. I've let it be known he isn't getting a lift anywhere again. Sounds a bit harsh, but he isn't even my friend so I don't particularly car if he thinks it's harsh. If I give you a lift out of the kindness of my heart, respect my rules.Last edited by TattyBoJangles; 24-06-2012 at 13:29. -
Re: What ticks you off most in the car?
Wow, some of you are really, really uptight about driving and your cars. Having lived with a '68 Morris Minor for a year and a half you kinda get used to engine noise, transmission whine, being able to see daylight between the top of your door and the seal and thus getting a bit soggy when it rains, having to slam the drivers door to get it to shut properly, the fact that sometimes the auxiliary systems fuse would become unseated and you'd lose wipers, lights, radio, and fuel gauge until you stopped, lifted the bonnet and reseated the fuse, and the wonderful smell of petrolly exhaust
Now driving a VW Golf where it's warm, dry, and everything works like it's meant to I feel pretty pampered. There's no way I could ask people to not eat smelly food or whatever in the car because I do exactly that and eat Maccies and KFC all the time in there. The rear footwell is often a foot deep in rubbish and food packets.
I'm pretty chilled out in the car but the things that get to me are successive red lights and people being ***** on the road. Other than that driving for me is a pretty pleasant experience in whatever I'm driving. -
Re: What ticks you off most in the car?
When the windows are down and you get a weird vibrating noise (I cant describe it very well).
Passengers opening windows (only my front ones are electric)
Anyone touching my radio, I plug my iPod in as Im not a fan of radio channels but people like to change through them
Passengers touching things they dont know anything about.
The weird clicky noise that happens whenever my wipers move (and the one that squeaks)
The fact that if I even have a bottle of water on my passenger seat, the seatbelt light and a light to tell me to turn the baby seat (I dont have/need one) the right way to protect it come on

Re: What ticks you off most in the car?I think I know what you mean... Least in my case I reckon it's the air in the cabin resonating, I was able to shut it up by opening the sunroof an inch at the same time.(Original post by MissLightyear)

Motorbikes. -
Re: What ticks you off most in the car? They're unpleasant when they come up behind you at a hell of a speed and overtake you on whatever type of road you're on. At least, this is usually my experience with them.(Original post by Boristhethird)
care to expand on that?
Just makes me uncomfortable. Really though, it's cars overtaking stupidly/riskily that I find worse.Last edited by Julii92; 24-06-2012 at 18:52. -
Re: What ticks you off most in the car?well mines cars then, the way they follow me closely, dont look when turning, hold cigarets out the windows (when im filtering) or are always on their phones.(Original post by Julii92)
