Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyLooks like a plot to derail the Green Party movement in order to maintain the statuesque in the September election. The people's green revolution will not be halted by your tricks.(Original post by Addzter)
The time has come for a brand new party in the Model House of Commons. A party that truly listens to its members, fights for what it believes in and strives for a fair society. That party is the TSR Social Liberal Party.
If you're interesting in fighting for social justice, combating economic inequality and building a fairer, greener and happier society then this is the party for you.
We need as many members as possible to sign up, keep this debate thread going and draft policies so that we can get the party off the ground. If you're interested, let me know and I'll sign you up, and if you have any questions, ask away.
Thanks.

Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyI wouldn't have done if Morgsie hadn't decided to run for leader again.(Original post by Mazzini)
I thought you weren't going to form a splinter party?Last edited by Leon Trotsky; 23-06-2012 at 18:49. -
Re: TSR Social Liberal Party
This is a very good idea. As the Lib Dem's popularity in 2010 shows, there is definitely a large support base for social liberal politics when its untainted by market fundamentalism. You're another ideology that I share a lot of common ground with. Good luck!

Perhaps try contacting some (former) Lib Dem members that have left since 2010.Last edited by JPKC; 23-06-2012 at 18:51. -

Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyI'd understand if you moved to create this party if he had already won, but isn't it premature to do so before the leadership election is over?(Original post by Addzter)

Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyI agree. And I don't see the Liberal Democrat brand becoming much more popular amongst students anytime soon, either.(Original post by JPKC)

I think the fact he got away with circumventing a VoNC is reason enough. I wish you and t_c luck in the election though.(Original post by Birchington)

Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyI understand.(Original post by Ysolt)
You can add my name but Ill ask for it to be taken off if the candidate I want wins; I dont want the lib dems to be another tory party and Im worried that this is happening in real life and TSR
PM me if and when you want me to take your name off.

Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyAh, so he is.(Original post by Abiraleft)
Blueray is looking to be a founding member of both this and the (new) Green Party?
I'll keep him on the list because he did PM me. But I shall privately feel upset and betrayed.

Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyYou're so delightfully competitive(Original post by Rakas21)
Could be interesting, any party that dilutes the Labour vote is a goer in my opinion.
Good luck.

Re: TSR Social Liberal PartyWell, we don't have firm policies in any of these areas yet because I'd like all party members to come up with them collaboratively, but I can give you an overview of what they'd probably be like.
Drugs: Complete legalisation of soft drugs, (certainly cannabis, and perhaps other hallucinogenics like magic mushrooms and LSD) taxed and regulated in the same way as alcohol and tobacco; decriminalisation of the possession of all other recreational drugs.
Immigration: If you can prove that you're likely to be of benefit to Britain's economy and/or society than you can come in. Highly skilled immigrants will be given preference over low-skilled workers who aim to be employed in jobs that could easily be filled by British workers.
Free speech: I don't know what you want me to say here. I'm in favour of it, if that's what you're asking. The only limitations to it would be slander, libel, etc.
Foreign policy: On the whole: anti-war, non-interventionist. Selling arms of any kind to undemocratic, repressive regimes will end.
Tax: Anyone earning under £12,000 P.A. will not need to pay any income tax, companies who do not commit to reducing their carbon emissions will face a new tax, a new (small) Robin Hood tax on financial transactions like bonds, currencies, stocks, etc.Last edited by Leon Trotsky; 23-06-2012 at 21:56.
