In terms of naval power, man power, air power, and resources, it would have to be India.
However, Germany has a bigger defence budget than India; the defence budget of Germany is $41 Billion, whereas for India it's $36.03 Billion.

I guess India is more stronger for now because they're more ready and equipped to respond to any threat from Pakistan (or China), or terrorists. India is in a more alert state, but both the Indian and German armies are amazing, and have state of the art technology; both India and Germany are definitely worthy enough to be compared.

Indeed but that doesn't stop them being a superpower, look at the Soviet Union for example.

I understand where you are coming from but indias time is short lived they are only where they are because help from the uk and other countries as people within India become richer I think they will start to move their businesses from India and into other countries and we are seeing this with indias skilled workers.

There already have the super power status comapred to china.

And for the poverty, According to a new survey, India's poverty lines had been reduced to just 22% from 37%. Maybe a few more years and it will be fine.

Ah there's always surveys and I think you have to go there and actually see what it's like (not from personal experience but from a close friends who visited) he says that you don't really know it until you actually get there and lets say those statistics are correct work out 22% of what indias population actually is and you are given a frighting figure.

I reckon until India becomes stricter with its natal policies they won't be seeing any improvements anytime soon.

Lot of people live under the $1.5 a week which is the international poverty line mark. $1.5 = 90 rs which is a lot for the poor parts of India. Farmers can live well with that much in the backward parts. Anyway India has the richest and the poorest people in the world.

Also China has 17% poverty and India is not far behind.

Germany, however when it comes to manpower definitively India. Arguably the German Bundeswehr is better equipped and training is of a better standard. Having G36's as a standard service rifle is something pretty awesome... but then again you can't compare armies by their standard service rifles. The German army lost its reputation in recent years though, especially after the war and due to restrictions on the army by allied powers and isn't seen as powerful anymore :/ Looking at special forces Germany definitely prevails with It's KSK and Germany is also far more influential in wars. I was looking forward in taking part in conscription in the Bundeswehr as I am a German citizen but sadly they abolished it last year however I can still volunteer without being sent off to a warzone. India has nukes but Germany doesn't because apparently they can't be trusted and hence why they have to share with the Netherlands and Belgium.

Where are you getting your figures from? And look at population density too mate I think there's a lot of factors that have to be taken into account when talking about things like this and the rapid expansion india faced would not be possible anywhere else in the world because of lack of support other countries would get.

Something that also needs to be considered is the level of tech each nations have unargueable germany is more advanced also india is heavily reliant on imports in order to keep the economy going. Although india produces alot of coal its not able to produce anywhere near enough energy to be self reliant where as germany would be able to produce more of its own energy needs. 7

Well it depends. I believe the Germans are actually limited in how large their army can be and what roles it can fill in operations, meaning its weaker than it could be.

India may have a strongish military but if we are taking about Germany vs India then there's no way India has the logistics for long distance warfare, there power projection barely extends past their own borders.

Germany has a technologically advanced military. It is also a NATO member so it essentially can draw upon very good allies. I'm pretty sure if tomorrow Germany decided they wanted to ignore any legacies from WW2 (in reality there isn't anything stopping them from doing so) and start building up a military it won't be long before they can have one that is every bit as good as the world's best.

India has the advantage of numbers, but it doesn't have the ability to do anything more than perhaps go into an armed conflict with it's neighbours, even then it would probably be a border region only conflict.

well everything american do, india is like the backside of them from hollywood to bollywood they copy everything even speak english loooool so i guess they would go running to america just like they did when pakistani nearly beat thier ass in kargil or summit (but obv they made a film to show indian people won, when actually thier prime misnister at that time told america to help)

but if america has indias back, then I guess india wins

IMO nobody could win this. Both countries are powerful enough to eradicate each other, that is the unfortunate situation of a world full of nuclear weapons (please oh please don't tell me you don't think Germany could muster up some nukes if the time came). However, take nukes out of the equation and it becomes interesting. I believe Germany are far better organised, equipped and crucially funded (the German economy is ridiculously strong). In my opinion India would struggle to compete, despite the obvious number advantages.
