Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?India's economy is better than Germany's. If India ever had to introduce conscription, which might not happen, the army count will increase by 2-3 times. And no matter how technologically advanced/skilled Germany is, there will come a point where they do get outnumbered, esp. If india goes all kamikaze against Germany.(Original post by M1011)
IMO nobody could win this. Both countries are powerful enough to eradicate each other, that is the unfortunate situation of a world full of nuclear weapons (please oh please don't tell me you don't think Germany could muster up some nukes if the time came). However, take nukes out of the equation and it becomes interesting. I believe Germany are far better organised, equipped and crucially funded (the German economy is ridiculously strong). In my opinion India would struggle to compete, despite the obvious number advantages.
I refuse to accept the credibility of any military power list which places France in the top 10
I like how you subtly changed the question to America vs Germany.
And also if we are talking about allies, USA will defo be ours, esp. As we helped them get bin lade, and also Germany hasn't even paid back the $12 billion wartime money that it borrowed off USA. -
Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?Please back up your first statement. India can't feed its own population, which is out of control by the way. No doubt India has great potential (in that it's blooming huge), but it's not there yet. Judging by the 'ours' I'll assume your Indian and therefore obviously biased in this matter.(Original post by Frankster)

Moving on, numbers doesn't mean much in modern warfare. I'll tell you what, you have 1000 Soldiers and I'll have one guy in a stealth bomber, who wins? Obviously I'm exaggerating to make a point, but realistically numbers is nothing without proper logistics and equipment. Germany is one of those countries which has a culture literally built for war; they love order, they love instruction and they love discipline. It's cultural reasons that make them so darn efficient. India, not so much.
Final point, the question is who has a stronger military out of India and Germany. America has no bearing on the question being asked. However, do you really feel you could rely on America in the situation? Why would they get involved in a war against Europe's largest power? What's in it for them, good will and cookies?
For me Germany is the stronger of the two, excluding end of world weaponry in which case we all lose. Please feel free to have a different opinion

1. The Soviet Union couldn't feed its own population and they still defeated the Germans. India hasn't had a famine since 1947...
2. There is no comparision between the warrior castes in the Indian army in comparison to the average non-martial Indian.
3. None of the 2 countries are built for long term warfare or have strong political leadership.
Now China, they are a force to reckon with.Last edited by 4metal; 24-06-2012 at 09:44. -
Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?stronger weapons? india has nukes, more aircraft carriers, aruably better aircraft, more subs etc.(Original post by Aj12)
Germany. Stronger weapons. Better infrastructure. Good allies.
The Indian army is a state right now and would likely fall apart if it went to war.
infrastructure? I dont understand how thatb will help in a war
good allies? I think you are forgeting india is strong allies with russia, israel, france and it has a strong relationship with japan.
and secondadly i dont even know where you got the 'army in a state' thing from it seems like bullsh*t, but hey, it might be true im not denying itLast edited by rmisra; 24-06-2012 at 10:31. -
Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treat...ect_to_Germany
" Germany was to limit its combined
armed forces to no more than 370,000
personnel, no more than 345,000 of
whom were to be in the Army and the Air
Force . Germany also reaffirmed its
renunciation of the manufacture,
possession of, and control over nuclear,
biological, and chemical weapons, and in
particular, that the Nuclear Non-
Proliferation Treaty would continue to
apply in full to the unified Germany (the
Federal Republic of Germany). No foreign
armed forces, nuclear weapons, or the
carriers for nuclear weapons would be
stationed or deployed in six states (the
area of Berlin and the former East
Germany ), making them a permanent
Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone . The German
Army could deploy conventional weapons
systems with nonconventional
capabilities, provided that they were
equipped and designed for a purely
conventional role. Germany also agreed
to use military force only in accordance
with the United Nations Charter ." -
Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?True say, buddy...(Original post by perfectsymbology)
The only way to truly find out is to start a war and put it to the test. The American military got severely found out in Iraq despite their all their massive massive military spending and training. -

Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?Yes...many links to it..the very fact that Apache has range of 370kms and Abbotabad is hardly 60kms from kashmi loc...it takes 12mts flying distance while abottabad is 250 km form bagran base which would have taken 50-60mts of flying time alerting pakistanis ...kashmir was base of operations and also the copter flew to bagran without refuelling and RAW provided pakistani army frequency to block and confuse pakistani radars.......and btw few days back on april 26 american nuclear sub docked in goa for "repairs"....now neither is goa a sub base nor does america require indian help for sub "repair"..they have big american base nearby in deigo garcia ..where it could have been repaired..at the same time india dosnt have any treaty to allow american subs in indian territory...all links point to same(Original post by math1234)

Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?1. If I recall my history lessons correctly, the Soviet Union wouldn't have stood a chance if it hadn't been for two simple facts; the Germans were also at war with the UK, France (lol) and America, and weather.(Original post by 4metal)
Facts:
Now China, they are a force to reckon with.
2. Great, I'm sure India has some exceptional soldiers. My point was the German culture is pretty uniquely suited to warfare, much like the Japanese culture (althought perhaps not so suicidal).
3. Depends how you define those terms really.
Either way, I'm not a German so believe what you want, but I doubt you're thinking objectively. Germany is the powerhouse of Europe, India is relatively new to the game, my money would be on Germany. -
Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?Nukes you can't do anything with. Might as well strike them out. If India was to nuke Germany the US and others would wipe it off the face of the earth. Germany is under the US nuclear umbrella.(Original post by rmisra)

More more more does not matter. If you want to look at a war all things considered Germany is going to have allies on its side, even with just European allies such as the UK and France India would have a hard time taking on Germany. India has one aircraft carrier. France and Britain have far more experience in carrier warfare as well as better subs ect. You may try to say oh but this is just a war between India and Germany. Such a thing is very unlikely to ever happen.
Yes infrastructure. The Military ability to actually fight a war. Communication systems, the ability to coordinate large scale battles. The logistics to actually fight a war beyond its borders. Something Germany has experience of, India does not. All Indian wars have been fought on or around its borders. Germany has a military that has benefited from decades of US experience and has also fought wars thousands of miles from its own borders.
A letter was recently leaked that suggesting the Indian army had no tank ammunition http://tribune.com.pk/story/356360/l...ry-weaknesses/ . With allegations like these floating around I doubt the Indian armys ability to fight any sort of protracted war.
If Russia got involved then the US would too. Right now the US military would crush the Russians. One of the reasons the cold war ended was because in conflicts between Western and soviet equipment in the Middle East the Soviet equipment was always shown to be vastly inferior. Japan has pretty much a neutral foreign policy and would never fight a war against an American ally, nor would Israel. -
brilliant....... you just uncovered the reality.(Original post by Aj12)

I should add one thing that India has so much experience of losing wars against its traditional rival therefore I doubt that India will ever have a chance to win against Germany just because they have over crowded army. War is not about numbers, war is about strategy, if number could win (in terms of war) then every mathematician will be a king

Not even Kargil, India lost all the wars against China & Pakistan since 1947, and the funny thing is, they believe that they won these wars lol(Original post by umarrehman187)
well everything american do, india is like the backside of them from hollywood to bollywood they copy everything even speak english loooool so i guess they would go running to america just like they did when pakistani nearly beat thier ass in kargil or summit (but obv they made a film to show indian people won, when actually thier prime misnister at that time told america to help)
but if america has indias back, then I guess india wins
Perhaps, US has supported India on different occasions against Pakistan but if India fights against Germany then there is no way that US will support India

Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?
Bit of trivia. John Rambo from the uber successful Stallone film franchise was of German and Indian descent.
Doesn't really answer which nation has the stronger army but it does tell us they'd have a ****-off gang of killers if they ever got together and had kids -
Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?The are never ever going to be a superpower. They won't even be a regional power. Do you have any idea what a superpower is?(Original post by Elwyn)
India is one of the most powerful nations in the world, far more so than us. They'll gain superpower status along with China and Russia at some point in the next few decades.
Global Firepower is a good website for this sort of thing.... http://www.globalfirepower.com/ -

The are never ever going to be a superpower. They won't even be a regional power. Do you have any idea what a superpower is?
'After the Cold War, only the United States appeared to fulfill the criteria to be considered a world superpower.[2] The term second superpower has also been applied by scholars to the possibility that China will emerge as a superpower on par with the United States.[3][4][5] Brazil, the European Union, and India are thought to have the potential of achieving superpower status within the 21st century[6] A few heads of states[7][8], politicians[9] and news analysts[10] claim that Russia may have already reclaimed that status.'
It's common sense really, increasing populations with increasing wealth and so on. -
Re: Who has a stronger military ? India or Germany ?Well, good to know you can access wiki. Just so you know, no nation is going to reach the US for at least 2 decades, even then China might only dominate the Far East, maybe as far down Australia. But the US is likely to stay the single global superpower, they will never be caught by India. In fact it's more likely that India's influence might decrease if China and Pakistan pair up to contain India's sphere of influence. How in the world can India do anything when it has a nuclear armed Pakistan on one side, an China on the other? Don't be ridiculous. India is not going anywhere any time soon.(Original post by Elwyn)
