    University Hall vs Durdham Hall?
Which do people think is generally better and why? It seems as if they're so similar that I'm having trouble deciding!

Durdham is seen as dull and UH is seen as ****. I was in HB so I visited both. I'd say the bars were on a par but the flats in durdham were much nicer than those in UH. UH is in dire need of a lick of paint. Go for Durdham IMO but you'll have a great time in either as its the people that make it, not the condition of the accommodation and all the people I knew from both halls were awesome.

Woo a reply! :L it's just that I've heard that Uni Hall generally has a better JCR/social scene than Durdham? It might seem weird that I'm applying to these places and not the usual Colston/Hawthorns/whatever but I'd prefer to be in Stoke Bishop, where most other people are.

In my opinion both bars weren't great but granted UH was a little bit better. But neither were on the same level as Badock or HB. Apparently the HB bar has gone downhill since I was there but Badock is still good I think. The stoke Bishop scene is good and all that but being in HB (catered) meant we tended to hang around in our halls a bit more. I'm not sure how living in a flat would change that. It's really luck of the draw in that respect. Bear in mind Stoke Bishop is MILES away from everything but apparently there is a bus service now.

i lived in UH back in the day, was utterly dull and although less cliquey than other halls, very distressing. Can't comment on durdham though, although I do recall they were a lot hotter at DH lol

The best thing about Durdham is that it's in a better condition that UH with nicer and I think ensuite rooms. It's also ON TOP OF A HILL. That's a major factor and to those of you who scoff and say no hill's gonna bring me down, the prospect of trekking up that hill will inadvertently keep you in doors.

UH is known by many as 'poverty halls'. It is also furthest away from the university, and being from the clifton halls myself, I hardly ever heard of things going on at UH. It was always events at Churchill, Wills, Durdham and HB.

Yeah, neither are that great. Try Badock/Hiatt Baker, although UH is definitely better socially, so I'd pick that if I had to.
