Calling all medicine students!! :P History or Economics A-level ??? help!
hi everyone!
i was wondering because you as medicine students what a levels did you take that got you onto a medicine course at uni??
and as a fourth a level which would be better History or Economics??
thank you in advance any help would be appreciated!!
p.s. im currently in yr 10 -
Re: Calling all medicine students!! :P History or Economics A-level ??? help!
I did History for my fourth subject, (with maths chemistry and biology) and it has turned out very well for me. But equally if you find economics more interesting, and you are better at it go for economics. It's important that you choose whichever one balances better on the really enjoy it/am good at it scale, because I believe that both are well respected subjects, that will give your application the same benefits wrt a range of subjects
Hope this helps, and if you have any questions on history and applying to medicine, feel free to ask
Also, if you move this to the medicine forum you may get more replies

I'm in year 11 and personally have chosen history for next year after hearing many good reviews of having an extra arts subject
but as mentioned above do what you feel you will excel the most in and enjoy!

what are you hoping to do in the future in uni??? if you don't mind me asking
thankx(Original post by Helloworld_95)
Whichever one you think you'll enjoy more

I was thinking of doing the same a levels as you :P but dn't really enjoy history
It would be good to do extended project my cousin did that ( shes currently finished her a levels and waiting for the results ) she said its a gd thing to do- so try doing it!!! :P -
Re: Calling all medicine students!! :P History or Economics A-level ??? help!
Both are respected subjects. In that sense it doesn't matter. Do the one you will find most interesting. As well as the typical considerations for difficulty and so on. I am not doing medicine, but I can assure you both are rewarding. If you are intelligent you will breeze through them no doubt.

Re: Calling all medicine students!! :P History or Economics A-level ??? help!
Economics has a far lower workload, by all accounts, including my own, so I'd probably go for that. I loved History GCSE but horror stories about the sheer amount of work required put me off and I guess I did very little over the two years for Economics.

And if you don't enjoy history then don't take it and go for economics (if you enjoy that). If you don't enjoy either and want to choose them just for the course then don't bother and choose a different one! You won't do well in a subject unless you want to study it! That was what I thought at first too when I was going to choose Physics but people warned me so I went against it
