Can my school force me to do a subject I don't want to do?
I hate philosophy with a vengeance, and it would not help me at all with my degree choice, chemistry. I want to continue with chemistry, Maths and physics at A2, and if I were forced to do philosophy I wouldn't have the will to do it; I dislike the subject, the teacher and his biased views and the idiocy of the mark schemes for it.

My school requires a minimum of a C to continue with a subject at A2, and I'm at that stage where I can't see myself getting above that in anything but philosophy (just feeling down tbh). I won't be there on results day because I'm off on a holiday, but I am back to open my letter on the next day. Just wondering, based on all this, can my school force me to do my least favourite subject?

No. know one can force you to do something you don't want to do...they'll probably ask you to resit the year.

Hang on. You chose Philosophy, but now intend to drop it?

If your school needs Cs to continue, then you must get those in Chem, Maths and Further Maths.

They most certainly can't/won't force you into doing Philosophy at A2. If that's the only one you get a C in though, you may want to reconsider your options and retake the year sans Philosophy.

Of course, you're just being pessimistic and you're going to get good grades come August anyway

    Good luck!

It looks like they're forcing you to not take the other subjects (with reason, they don't want 3 Ds on their results book) rather than forcing you to take philosophy
