BTEC: When are we accepted by universities?
Basically I've just completed a BTEC extended diploma in forensic science and my work and everything was internally and externally verified months ago so I guess all the exam board has to do is inform UCAS, print my results onto a certificate and post it to me/the college.

Apparently this usually happens all within about 2 weeks but I'm getting really antsy! Do our offers turn to unconditional before our certificates arrive in the post or afterwards?

Good question, I did hear that they do start rolling out now, but its every week until results day. So yes they could change.

UCAS starts receiving grades from the exam board in mid July.

You could receive your certificate first or you could get your grades going through UCAS first, it depends where you are in their pile I guess. Once you get your certificate I believe you can scan it and e-mail it to your firm choice to speed things up if you havn't been officially accepted yet. I tried to do this with my SRF but they said they couldn't do it because in theory it could still be changed by the exam board although this is highly unlikely.

It might depend on the university but I imagine most would accept a copy of your certificate as proof but would obviously reserve the right to reject you and take action against you if it was shown to be falsified.

    Do you know your grade?

basically the time from when ur college sends the results to excel, to the time excel send them to ucas is about 2 weeks

ucas get a batch of results every monday or tuesday till september.
i have been told by ucas they have started recieveing them all ready.
ucas then send them within one to two days to your university
the universities should up date your track within a couple of days

all in all its about a 3 week process id say we will start hearing from them as of next week

    hope this helps :-)

Oh okay thank you that does help

There's a very limited amount of information available regarding when we're likely to hear from them.

One question though... if they'll be receiving a batch a week until September then presumably some people will have to wait months?

Also, will UCAS track accounts inform us when our grades are sent to the universities? Or will we be left clueless as to the actual progress. I'm so impatient haha..

Well we know our grades so at least we know whether we've met the conditions of the offer or not I guess...

UCAS track freezes at the beginning of August to prepare for other results. We've got around three weeks now that our Track could be updated, but if it hasn't by the beginning of August then it will update on A-level results day, I think.

According to this site, Track was frozen from the 27th July to the 4th August for Scottish results, and from 10th to the 18th of August for A-level results last year. It'll be similar dates for this year i'd imagine.
