Can school stop me doing my exam?
Our school is really strict on uniform, and even though I have now left school they still want us in uniform and to dress the same as we would if we were still at school, I really want to dye my hair red, but I still have 2 exams left, would they stop me doing the exam if I dyed my hair. When we were still going to school someone dyed their hair red and excluded them so would they stop me doing my exam?
Many thanks -
Re: Can school stop me doing my exam?
its the same at my school. i had half my hair cornrowed with red extension and my friend dip dyed some blue and green rave colour into her ends and we both got told to hide it before we were allowed on school premises. its because they dont want the younger kids seeing us and trying to copy. pretty stupid and annoying rule but yeah, dont think they can stop you doing the exam but they can stop you from coming into school, so same outcome really... so i would just wait 2 weeks with ur hair.
good luck -
Re: Can school stop me doing my exam?but why even risk it, to be honest I doubt theyd not let you, good luck btw(Original post by _Shmiley)
I know, but could they still stop me if they wanted to.

It's a valid question, I'd rather delay doing my hair than risk failing my exams(Original post by iSoftie)

Re: Can school stop me doing my exam?
Would probably just be better to wait a week and not risk it, but yeah, to be honest they wouldn't want to exclude you and risk making themselves look worse in league tables by you getting a U in that GCSE exam for not turning up. Especially if it's a private school. If it's not a private school, they'd probably come under heavy fire for it, so you'd probably be ok either way.
Honestly though, better to be safe than sorry in this instance :P. -
Re: Can school stop me doing my exam?Pretty sure they can stop her unless they are compulsory exams (English / Maths GCSE) - and if they're private they can stop her no matter what.(Original post by PrismaticCore)
They can't stop you from taking exams, but they can force you to pay for them instead. That's what our school does.
Anyway OP, it's a bit silly to consider it. Just wait a bit and do it after - it's not worth the hassle just to have red hair for a few days, is it? -
Re: Can school stop me doing my exam?Don't take this the wrong way but I would personally think your exams are more important than dying your hair. If you have only 2 left then can't you just wait a little longer?(Original post by _Shmiley)

Good luck with the rest of your exams though I know how tough it can be!

Re: Can school stop me doing my exam?
Its an interesting question. They are external exams so I doubt the teachers have the power to do it, I don't think teachers have the power to disqualify people unless they are backed by invigilators so the same probably goes for sitting it. We had adults in our exam hall entering as private candidates, the teachers couldnt to anything to stop them so if you turn up and your name is on the list my guess is that you will sit the exam unless the invigilators stop you and the invigilators cant stop you.
