The Chronicles of Deception: VOTE For which Book Cover/Name I should Use (POLL)
    Hello Creative Writers!
I've decided to begin the journey to share one of my stories I've been working on for some time now.
However, I need help choosing a suitable Book cover.
Which is where you guys come in!

*update - Cannot decide on a title, please also vote between those listed below*

    Which title:

    (a) The Chronicles of Lying
    (b) The Chronicles of Deception
    (c) The Deception Chronicles
    (d) The Deception Diaries

This is the description and opening paragraph of the story
    to help you choose.

    Desc:
James D. Baldwin is from a long line of ass-whooping,bad-ass Skyliners. His fathers and forefathers are masters of the skies, controllers of wind and creators of storms. Except James first encounter with an academy jet left a neighbouring village on fire and a 10-year air ban. Nevertheless, five years later James is making history as the youngest Elite ranker in St George's History receiving prestigious awards from respected individuals and attention from the more promiscuous female cadets. However, it doesn't take him long to decode the true meaning of why St Georges Academy has been on top for numerous generations. Does he keep quiet and let the good times keep rolling? Or does he commit the greatest treason against the academy, his friends and even his family in. All in an attempt to reveal the cruel secrets that many would and have killed over to keep buried.

    Opening:

    Chapter 1

“It's not until you put on the uniform,

that it all becomes a reality.

All those long hard hours of ruthless training and endless disappointments,

    finally pay off.”

Walking through base HQ was surreal, handshakes were flying at me at every corner, from unknown elderly faces accompanied with voices uttering 'congratulations kiddo!', 'we are amongst a prodigy' and 'never doubted you son'. Not forgetting the more looser of female cadets –you didn’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to know they didn’t get in for ability but instead the more 'generous donations' their family’s had given the academy- flicking their eyelashes and biting their nails, suddenly I couldn’t keep the cornflakes I ate for breakfast down and the sleazy whispers that followed didn’t help the situation either. “call me!” -How she wanted me to call her was a mystery since this was the first time we had spoken- and “last chance baby, before your first mission!”

Eventually I felt a hard pat on my back, a familiar face.

It was Olly, “Congrats mate” he bellowed grinning with all teeth on show, projecting his voice like a cheesy Hollywood news reporter “who knew Mr J. Baldwin would one day surpass us all!” he humoured himself.

Then as if that wasn’t enough, in an exaggerated manor he started hushing away the crowd, as if I was a Disney movie star of some sort, surrounded by tween fan girls on a red carpet for a new futuristic-vampire-wizard-boy likes girl & girl likes boy musical franchise.

    Thank you.
    - For those who want to continue reading, I will send a link to the site I will be publishing the chapters on, so no worries

I like the first one better, it seems more serious and not comic like the other one. Your story seems to be quite serious, with a bit of comedy, and if I was to see two books with both of the covers I would pick up the first one. It seems like quite a good story and I would actually quite like to read it. Hope this helps.

I really want to read this! Are you going to publish this? Because if you do please make a thread on tsr, so I can go to the store and get a copy

I like the first cover, because the story seems focused on the protagonist. And the reader can identify the male on the cover as the protagonist. It also has a mysterious look which blends in with the mystery genre.

Personally I prefer the second one... not too sure why. I guess the story is fantasy/ sci-fi, so a more realistic image may not suit it? Perhaps not - load of fantasy writers use 'realistic' covers, I just like the second one more

The first one is more traditional and would blend into a book store (if you're planning on marketing it to a bookstore....)
I prefer the second one for it's individuality, but from you're description, I think the first one may be a better representation of what the book is about.
So that was a very tentative answer, and it will be interesting to see which one you choose

Wonderful you got from an early start it was a mixture of adventure and humor.
Haha. Happy you'd like to read more, means the opening has that raw edge that I wanted to come across from the start.
    Thank you, for the feedback!

Haha, Im going to publish it on this creative writing site that's well known to get the first chapters read, then if they enjoy it as much as my friends have offline then I'm going to get my Aunt to sponsor me and the book.
    Thanks for the cover feedback.

I get what you mean, fantasy cover for a fantasy book.
However I wouldnt want older reasons to be put off due to the comic book cover hmmm.

I'd go for the first one, it seems a lot more serious and perhaps more tailored to the book's plot. The second one reminds me of some anime comic-type thing.

The second one is MUCH better.

You'd be surprised how serious some manga are (the serious ones are called Gekiga).

14:2 on The Student Room (Cover 1 clearly taking the lead)
but 15:17 on WattPad (Similar scores from Cover 1 & 2)

Such different outcomes from the sites...

    Hmmm.

    ooooo I'm liking that effect.
How did you feel about the opening?
and which title do you feel best suited?

Very intruguing! I would like to see nature set the scene by perhaps appealing to our senses... Just a suggestion.

As for the title, I prefer the Chronicles of Lying - it seems unique. How about The Tales of Deception?

    First one, second title.
    Two more things:
    - I don't think you should be able to see his eyes;
    - I think the title should just be "Deception".

Haha, the opening is set in Base HQ so nature couldnt set the scene if I wanted it to. I have already written chapter 1 which is where all the description and humour comes in. However chapter 2 is where all the action begins to kick off and I promise your senses will be tingled

You can barely see his eyes?
I don't like the title deception, seems like a movie title and its been overplayed with. sorry x

Im definately going with the first cover however, I liked Lunch_box comment about 'The Chronicles of Lying' being more unique
