Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic Park
Boycott Heineken instead. Facist bastards have banned any other beer being sold in or around any Olympic venue specifically so they can sell their brand of catpiss for £7 a pint. It's not even English beer.
Can you imagine the Germans putting up with not being allowed to sell German beer at their own Olympic party or only being able to get California Blossom Hill at a Paris Olympics? It takes the piss. Why do we put up with this ****? -

Will there be a Pret?
I don't quite understand why people don't love that place as much as I do.
Well, the only thing I would improve about it is its lack of paninis...They don't sell any, do they? -
Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic ParkI am so glad someone has finally shown outage at the fact a chocolate company and a fast food chain are our OLYMPIC suppliers! what kind of world encourages athletes to eat discounted burgers!? I thought it was ridiculous from the moment i found out about it. Therefore i will boycott with you, not that it will make much difference in this world.(Original post by GodAtum)
I want to try and encourage people to boycott McDonalds at the Olympic Park and find healthier food to eat.

This.

Just four reasons off the top of my head. -
Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic ParkIt's just as overpriced as any old coffee shop, in my opinion.(Original post by py0alb)

The food is really good, otherwise people wouldn't actually cough up money for it.
But the other two I agree with. -
Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic ParkI've generally been extremely disappointed with anything I've bought from there. Maybe I'm just picky.(Original post by PrismaticCore)

Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic ParkAll in moderation, doesn't eating too many bananas kill you due to potassium overdose IIRC?(Original post by madders94)
Why? Yeah, McDonalds will make you fat if you eat too much of it, but so will sandwiches, fruit etc... -
Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic Park
To the people defending McDonald's with 'you can get fat on anything, like fruit, if you eat too much of it' - either you have no idea about the nutritional info of McDonald's foods or in general or you're being deliberately stupid. McDonald's and healthy foods do not compare. Have a look at how many calories and fat and salt are in a regular fries next time you're there.
I would find it very hard to eat three lots of the calories in a regular extra value meal in a day if I were to eat three or four meals with a good proportion of vegetables, complex carbs and lean meats. In fact it would probably be virtually impossible. I would feel too full. However take me to McDonald's for every meal in a day and I'll easily eat many times my required daily calories.
The point is that you can think you're eating a very modest amount of food at McDonald's and still actually be going wildly beyond a healthy amount of calories and fat and salt. While people are still extremely ignorant about just what they need to be eating (and doing, in terms of exercise) to truly maintain what should be a 'normal' level of health and fitness, McDonald's and its kin are doing nothing but making us all fatter and more ill.
The last time I was at McDonald's was maybe six weeks ago, at which point I noticed the nutritional info on the back of the nuggets and fries packets in front of me. I was so gobsmacked that I swore not to go to McDonald's again and I haven't been back since. I love their fries but the sheer amount of calories in them are just not worth it in any way.Last edited by Ronove; 26-06-2012 at 12:13. -
Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic Park
McDonalds have sponsored the modern Olympics since the first commercialised event, without their sponsorship we, arguably, wouldnt have the games today.
If people can't eat in moderation then it's their problem, not McDonalds'.Last edited by MissLightyear; 02-07-2012 at 17:40. Reason: Missed out vital word ... -
Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic Parkaren't coca cola doing the same as well?(Original post by py0alb)

Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic Park
It does seem somewhat ironic that some of the biggest sponsors of the Olympic games are fast-food restaurants and fizzy drink companies.
I don't see what good boycotting will do though, the majority of people know that eating at McDonald's a lot will make them unhealthy and most people I know only go once or twice a week at most. -
Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic ParkImagine if BrewDog had stepped up. Their beer is so delicious.(Original post by py0alb)

Re: Boycott McDonalds at the Olympic ParkThat would be beyond awesome. Unfortunately, not being a huge evil multinational corporation they wouldn't have nearly enough bribery money to pay for the exclusivity deal.(Original post by Toaster Leavings)
