Any alternatives to this lappy ?
    Hello guys,

I have placed an order yesterday for a new Sony Vaio. I wasn't too worried about RAM and hard drive space as they can be upgraded later. Usage would be general and for some gaming, not hardcore gaming i.e. playing latest games at highest settings etc. I would prefer a 17 inch model.

Let me know what you guys think and if there are any alternatives to it. Forgot to mention that it has a 30 day return from date of delivery which will be in approx 2 -3 weeks so I can return later if I really need to.

Max budget is £ 600, and I got the Sony for £ 567

    These are the specs:

    Intel® CoreTM i5-2450M, 2.5GHz
    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
320 GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3-SDRAM
    Blu-ray Disc(TM) writer
    17.3 inch 43.8cm LCD 1920x1080 + webcam
    AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7650M 2GB
1.3 MP HD digital camera (Webcam)
    1 AC Adapter
    3x USB 2.0 + 1x USB 3.0
    Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11bgn)
    HDMI(TM) output
    HM76/-/-
    Bluetooth® 4.0

    Cheers

Well the new cpu's are coming out now
Plus the ram and hard drive is very low for that kind of price.

Better specs, and a good make for under £600

My issue is that the ones with the best specs for gaming and price are the Acer's, but they have overheating issues :/ within that range.

Also if you have a windows disc, you can get a novatech one for £520 with a a GT540M and i7

Thanks for replying, I am aware of the new Ivy bridge CPU's hence decided to buy now, the Toshiba seems pretty nice but the 1080p screen and bluray writer were swaying me towards the Sony as well as the 2 year warranty. In regards to the Novatech one I reckon it sounds good, even though the i7 seems like overkill do you have any links to it?

No OS though, as stated before.

But if you want a blu-ray and higher quality screen, then your's should be fine............plus find out if that ram is 1 x 4gb........then it's easier to upgrade. And the HDD will have to be changed if you want more space.
