    Live to close for halls...
I don't want to miss out on the university experience of living in halls and I live around an hours drive away but not far enough to apply for accommodation. So is there anyway to get around this or do I have to stay at home ?

It's down to the university really, you can apply/email as necessary and try our luck, but there's no guarantee they'll cave.

Out of interest, what do they specify as the minimum distance? Over an hour seems quite a strict limit to not let people in!

You could try looking at private halls in the town/city you will be staying in. These will have other students from a range of courses and from the different universities in that area. Which uni is it, someone on here may be able to suggest some private halls?

I don't know where the OP is going, but I know Anglia Ruskin has a 35 mile radius around Cambridge as a limit - ie, if you live 35 miles as the crow flies or less away, you can't apply for accommodation.

Of course, 35 miles as the crow flies doesn't mean you're actually 35 miles away by road. It includes Peterborough and Luton (40 miles away), Epping (43 miles away), Braintree and St Albans (46 miles away)...

Perhaps you could try looking for other people on TSR who are in the same situation to share a house with?
