Cheap/Safe places to visit in Europe?
    Hey guys!

Me and my boyfriend are looking at going away for a long weekend (3 nights 4 days) and we were wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere to go in Europe that is cheap and safe with things to do and see, and also doesn’t take too long to get there. We were thinking Paris but understand that it is expensive there? Thanks for any advice anyway!

I'm just back from Vienna, beautiful and very safe city! I was staying with a friend so it was very cheap for me but there is awesome street food everywhere and a lot of the main attractions can just be seen rather than visited. Museums and stuff are a wee bit pricey so we just went to the one that we really wanted to see and visited the grounds of the main palace. There are loads of parks to chill out in and the weather is decent. It depends where you're coming from but I got really cheap Ryanair flights to Bratislava which is just a short bus ride away from central Vienna.

Having just got back from Paris, I can say its relatively expensive but not as bad as I thought. Our major expenditure was food and drink but you can cut costs by buying snacks from supermarkets, taking advantages of bakery meal deals for lunch and enjoying set menus. Also if you are under 25 and hold a british passport or an eu one then you get into a lot of major attractions for free including the Lourve, Musee d'orsay and Pantheon. Obviously for the eiffel tower you still pay and same goes for climbing the Notre dame but again these are both free to look at! We found a relatively cheap deal by searching the internet.

My other suggestion would be somewhere like Vienna, Barcelona or Berlin as they are all fantastic cities. Not sure about prices mind.

I guess it depends on what you plan on doing whilst you are there/what your general interests are.

If you like history, I cannot recommend Berlin enough. Obviously there is a lot of war related stuff, Berlin Wall, Check Point Charlie...and then you have plenty of museums Brandenburg gate etc. I've been to Berlin twice and never been bored there (and this is coming from someone who typically doesn't like history related things...).
I love Berlin, I loved the general vibe of the city and thought the nightlife was amazing. I always recommend Berline when people ask of cities to visit.
I generally found the city to be quite cheap in comparison to other European cities that I've visited.

Paris IS expensive but if you avoid all the tourist traps then you can do it on the cheap.
You will have le Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Monmartre & Sacre Coeur to see and then if you have time, you could take a day trip to see Versailles. Again, so much to see and do.

Paris is expensive yeap. From my experience, Czec Republic and Slovaquia are the cheapest.
And well, Prague is completely worth it

Heya. I've been to Berlin twice...each time with 2 other people and we stayed in hostels.

Price wise, deffo go for a hostel. We found a really cheap hostel (20E a night each) in a really good location, with easy access to sights/nightlife. Met plenty of people there, too. Just have a look on hostel world and you'll be able to search for cheap hostels with good ratings from other travellers.

Berlin is such an amazing city. Thinking about it now makes me want to go back.

Viennas pretty flat really, same as Berlin.

Most cities are safe if you don't do anything stupid, probaly visit Innsbruck or Salzburg.

Venice, Rome, Paris, Wrakow, Pisa, Budapest, Napals, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Lille, Berlin, Munich, Stockholm, Malaga.

All have cheap flights to/from and lots of cheap but nice hostels, food, drinks, and good history, differing climates, etc

Cyprus, not in Europe but its in the EU, its a stunning island and it's always warm, I go every year and stay near Ayia Napa with my grandparents, it's a 5 hour flight but it cost from 200 upwards to fly.

Get to the coast and go on a ferry to Amsterdam! You might be high, but the prices sure as hell won't be!

If you want somewhere a bit smaller, Ieper in Belgium is beautiful and very safe. It's not particularly cheap, but easy to get to and lots of places to stay.

Yes, if you are visiting Austria, go to Salzburg and Innsbruck. Beautiful places

I seriously don't see how you can say that Berlin is boring!
IMO, Salzburg was dire. Though tbf, I'm neither a Mozart or a Sound of Music fan so was probably never destined to like it. It was a pretty city but there was nothing to do. Plus everything was so damn expensive.

Arriving my hostel to see Sound of Music enthusiasts in full costume just killed me inside.

Berlin is awesome. I went on a short holiday there a year and a half ago and am still here! It's really cheap, and there's loads to do both on the cultural/historical front and also on the nightlife/partying front.
