Hi Guys I study Mech Eng. at the uni of notts. I have 3 hard fails (26%/23%/28%) and 4 soft fail(38%/33%/34%/30%) across my first year. At the end of each semester there's a combined paper which is worth 40% for all 4 modules in each semester. So do I get so resit the combined paper as well as the ones for each especific modules? what if I fail like 2 resit modules ? I'm so doomed help me out.

If you fail your resits then depending on your department's policy you'll either be asked to repeat the year, given a viva (not sure how common this is though) or asked to leave the programme.

Just focus on passing those exams rather than on failing! Good luck.

A friend of mine failed part of his second year, albeit at the University of Liverpool, and had to do that half of the year again and then do the resits to progress. If he failed he was told he had to pick another course.

This is just an example but as the person above me said it depends on the policies of the university and the specific department.
