    Insurance on parents car
I learnt to drive at university this year and took about 30 lessons between August Last year and May this year. Towards the end of that spell I failed my driving test twice. First time was a stupid mistake at a junction, second was unlucky as it was on a mirror check that i missed changing lanes.

I've currently stopped lessons as I'm confident that I know how to drive well and could pass a test if I took it again. I'm moving back home from university at the end of this week as I start a year long placement next week and it is convenient for me to live at home.

I want to carry on driving and would like to take my test again as soon as possible to get it out of the way. I'm not sure whether I should take a few lessons back home then do my test or try and get insured on my Dad's Mazda 323 or Mum's Citroen C4 (Diesel).

Anybody got any suggestions as to which option I should take? Or how much insurance would cost?

I'm generally against people driving in their parent's car. I don't think you can get the same level of tuition... Which could develop bad habits. That said, you have taken a good number of lessons so it might just be refining the minor details. However, are your parents going to be suitable to judge you? Would they notice when you missed a check of the mirrors or anything like that?

I just think that for this final push, it would be best to go with an instructor. The car may feel slightly alien, and you really need someone who is judging you and preparing you for this test.
