    Advice about University?
I'm just finishing Year 12 and have just finished sitting my AS exams. I'm looking to study either English Literature or Law. Thing is I don't think I'll have done as well as I could have - I didn't revise as much as I could have - I'm expecting BBCC and a lot of the Uni's I'm looking at require AAB/ABB. So does this potentially mean I'm going to be predicted poorer grades? Is there anything I can do to increase these? Or should I not aim as high?

I've always hated the system of predicted grades as these are often never a true indicator of future performance and academic ability. I would advise to still apply to your preferred institutions of higher education, but for your fourth and fifth choices to be ones which have lower entry requirements.

If you don't do as well as you had hoped, then remember that you an always apply again after you've finished your A Levels, when you will have a clearer understanding of where you can apply to.

I'm afraid your predicted grades are based on your results in the real exams so that's why it is important you give yourself the best chance possible in Year 12. This shouldn't stop you from aiming high in fact it should motivate you to aim higher because you know where you've gone wrong and work on it for next year.

Teachers can predict you one grade higher so if you show them your serious you about getting the grades then you've got a chance. I'm not sure if University's look at your actual grades vs predicted grades.

Unis look at predicted grades when making their decisions if a candidate has not yet passed their A2 levels. This is why offers are initially conditional.

Wait for your AS results. Hopefully it's better than the predicted grades. Also ask yourself honestly would you be able to get the As and Bs because even if they give you a conditional offer, you still have to achieve the grades required.

You can always improve. I did three years of A Levels, each year obtaining CEU, CCE, BBB and my predicted grades were BBB. It's just about changing your attitudes and becoming mroe prepared. Drop something, focus on three and get good marks in those. Talk to your teachers, prove to them that you can improve and they will pout your predicteds up.
