Can i get on to Uni with this BTEC?
Hi i have applied to study Health and Social Care (Health Sciences) Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at College. I will start the course in September. I was wondering if i will be able to get into university with this BTEC because i've heard lots of people say BTECS are only for dumb people. I would like to either be a Radiographer,Childrens Nurse or a Operating Department Practitioner. I am undecided which one i would like to do yet. Thank-you for reading this and i would appreciate any comments about this as im really worried i wont be able to attend uni. Also has anybody done this course because i would like to know what you think about it?

Re: Can i get on to Uni with this BTEC?Many uni's accept Btec, but you are in many cases required to get top grades in the Btec's in comparison to A-levels. My mate had to get DDD for computer science, while other's could get in with ABB or so. Plus the Btec has to relate to the course you are looking to do.(Original post by fairydust100)

But check up the universities who do the courses which interest you and check the entry requirements. -
Re: Can i get on to Uni with this BTEC?
Hi, I done a Btec in Health & Social care and thought it was a great course! Was really intresting and relevent to today's health and social enviroment. Also universties love them for courses such as nursing, social work and occupational therapy as long as you have DDM or DDD. I got an offer from Liverpool John Moores University for Adult Nursing and achieved DDD. Also if you like working with the public placements are great! Hpe this helps!

Re: Can i get on to Uni with this BTEC?Hi I done a BTEC Health Sciences, it's equivalent to 3 A levels I got a DDD and going to uni in September to do nursing, I thought it was much better than school, you get to go on placements and when you filling out your UCAS application you will get a lot of help with your personal statement and the general application but it's a really good course and you will do really well if health subjects is a strong point but I loved my two years on the course met loads of friends and it's just a different learning environment all together but if you do the course you will enjoy yourself and the two years will fly by but anyway don't be put off by what you hear this course really prepares you for a health care career and university and it's a very respected course but anyway have a good time and good luck(Original post by fairydust100)

Re: Can i get on to Uni with this BTEC?I know that most universities accept Health and Social Level 3 for nursing courses, and one of the girls who went to the college I'm going to has just gone to do a Radiography degree. I'm not sure about the Operating Department Practitioner though.(Original post by fairydust100)

Re: Can i get on to Uni with this BTEC?
you will definately get into uni with that course.. it is NOT for dumb people AT ALL! universities dont prefer people who do a levels over btec. when you apply for university the university will look at your predicted grades, your personal statement, your work experience, and your reference your teacher makes. that is how they base their decision. they dont base their decision around if you do a levels or not.
the course your doing is perfect to get into all of those 3 chosen uni courses! i did it and am now doing adult nursing, i know others that did it and got into primary teahcing, ODP, occupational therapy.. the list goes on.
good luck, you will get to uni with this course
