How do I choose which threads I 'watch'?
Hi.

Pretty much the question in the title really. Since I joined TSR around January this year it seems like nearly every thread I post in or sometimes even view becomes a 'watched' thread. I would like to know if it's possible somehow for me to only subscribe to certain threads, which I believe is possible since I've seen people say they've 'subbed' to a thread. I had nearly 80 watched threads so I just deleted the folder because it was getting too much. If anyone who could advise me how to do this (if it's possible) it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/prof...do=editoptions

On there, halfway down the page it should say "Default watch thread mode" on that drop down menu, select "Do not watch" this will prevent threads from automatically appearing on your watch list.

To watch threads manually, on the threads, there should be "Thread tools" click on that and click on "subscribe to the thread".

Thanks very much, knew it would be simple but couldn't find it in the options. I gave rep

Sorry to ask another question, but somehow I can no longer find the 'watched threads' widget. I'm wondering if it was something I did while I was trying to sort my previous problem. On the Customise my TSR section I've clicked to show it but on my area I cannot see it. If you have any ideas how to sort it it would be much appreciated, again

I've watched 4 threads manually and it says they're in a folder or something if that helps

On the customised TSR, did you check the correct tab half way down the page? you may have occidentally clicked the x

You could have also clicked on "hide widget" on the right, click on "show widget"

These two are the common problems.

I think I sorted it but no clue how so thanks. Another question (), how do I install a video gif as my signature/picture thing? I've found it online and it's animated but i don't know how to transfer it from the website to TSR. Thanks again for your help and patience.

Right click on the image on whatever website it's on, copy the image url or link > go here http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/prof...=editsignature > and click the little image icon and paste it into the box or paste the url inbetween

As for getting it as your picture (I assume you may mean your avatar), then you have to be a subscriber to upload animated pictures.

Yes, I believe I did mean avatar then .

Anyway, thanks for your advice, I wasn't even aware of TSR subscriptions until now though :O. Also saw (I think) your thread on book recommendations which was very helpful - purchased 5 books already which should be good to read over the summer

You can still upload a normal still avatar though, if you don't fancy a sub!

Glad it helped! Though it was recently merged with all the other threads to clean up the forum a bit.

Find whatever picture you want, copy the image URL (or save it to your desktop) > paste the URL or upload it here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/prof...?do=editavatar

Make sure the picture is 50x50 or smaller.

I probably will sub at some point but for the moment I have no money and won't be earning much over the summer as my schedule is pretty jam-packed. Thanks for your advice anyway
