English Literature with Lit/Chem/Maths at A2?
I'm going to be doing English Literature/Chemistry/Maths/Physics for AS and will probably drop Physics in the second year. Will this have any sort of impact on my application? I've heard that English Literature has fairly lenient requirements in terms of specific subjects - would it matter that I'm not doing any subjects like History, as to say, would any of the top universities reconsider my application with the choices I'm planning to do at A2?

    Thanks beforehand.

Hi I'd just like to ask why the majority of your options are science based subjects if you're considering doing a Humanities based degree? I'm sure it won't be an issue when applying but it makes your personal statement so much easier if you're able to draw on other essay based subjects to explain why you want to do English. Also, the skills in essay based subjects tend to be transferable and complementary (hence why a lot of people will choose Eng Lit, History, Politics and/or a Language etc)... I can relate to this because I originally chose Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English literature (because I had hopes for Medicine)- the reason i decided to keep Eng was because I was naturally good at it and couldn't bear to not study it at A level. Funnily enough i'm now looking to study that at uni instead because it turns out that sciences weren't my strength- and English was a completely different style of learning. (A* in Eng at 96%)- Cs in A2 Bio and Chem. I'm not generalising or claiming that you can only be good at arts or sciences but it makes life alot easier if you figure out your strengths early on!
To answer your question I don't think it matters, all they care about is the grade in English. I know this because I've been doing some emailing and admissions tutors have encouraged me to apply (even though my grades are below the boundary- because its my grade in the specific subject that counts). I hope I've been of help! Good luck!
