Is the Core i5 really miles better than the AMD A8 processor?

Would most likely play Football Manager, watch HD movies and then the standard internet usage/office etc.

i5's better, plus that link with the same i5 is cheaper

Either will do all of that. Football manager is generally more CPU intensive than graphically intensive so the better GPU on the A8 would remain relatively unused.

If you're set on buying either of those laptops, I'd probably buy the Intel. If, however, you are still looking around, similar Sandy Bridge laptops are available at a cheaper price. Ivy bridge laptops should be out soon. Which may be better at the same price point.

Only has Intel intergrated graphics card though? Is the graphics card in the £500 better?

Then go for the 520mx graphics card.........but be careful with them, sometimes they don't switch over unless you play something intense.
