Re: Why are there Christians in Afghanistan?
There may be Christians in Afghanistan (it's more than likely that there is). The point of geography, however, means that you are far more likely to be Muslim than Christian if you born in Afghanistan. In America, you're far more likely to be Christian, and in India, you're far more likely to be Hindu.

Re: Why are there Christians in Afghanistan?
Usually because they come from separated communities that have been in the area for a long time that has not had much contact with the main population areas, in the case of Afghanistan most have now left as the government does not recognize any Afghan citizens as being Christians, nor are Afghan citizens legally permitted to convert to Christianity which as you can imagine results in them being heavily persecuted.
It is unlikely there is a country without any Christians whatsoever however a number like Afghanistan don't recognize the religion or peoples right to practice it so they will deny having any Christian citizens which makes it very hard to get any accurate information.
so basically because some cultural groups remained separate from the main population they retained a different religion and as for if any countries have absolutely no Christians we have no idea.Last edited by Darth Stewie; 27-06-2012 at 21:09. -

If religion is determined solely by environment?
Is there a country out there without any Christians?
Not trolling peeps, just riled by something one of my friends said today.
As for if any country doesn't have Christians..even North Korea is widely believed to have many thousands of Christians. I think of anywhere else that would be much more hostile to someone being a Christian and there.Last edited by RK; 29-06-2012 at 17:42. -
Re: Why are there Christians in Afghanistan?
My friend knows lots of Pakistani people who are Christians and they seem to be fine in Pakistan (as in they face no hostility etc in the area that they live in that has many Muslims in it). Just goes to show that you can't accurately judge what religion a person follows or if they do not follow a religion based on where they are from. Of course, we make assumptions looking at the majority of the population but our assumptions are not always correct.

Basically one of my good friends who happens to be an atheist said I was only a Christian because I was born in the West. However I've only been a Christian for about 3 years and I have as many Muslim, Sikh and even atheist friends as I do Christian.
I think that environment certainly has an impact on how many people believe a certain theology. However it is not wholly determinative and certainly has no bearing on whether a particular religion is true. -

Chocloholicpolygot. I don't think it is fair for you to come in here with pro Islamic propaganda this is a question more relating to geography. And so it is quite rude for you to imply that because Muslims are not bothering Christians in that area that all Muslims are peaceful.
